I have a couple of KONI shocks to put on the front in the morning and I'm trying to adjust the rebound.

If you're familiar with these shocks for our cars (8040 1087, REDS), you can adjust the rebound by compressing the shaft and turning it clockwise to firm it up, the other way to soften.

The problem is, when I set both to full firmness, one is noticably slower to rebound than the other! I can pull one out faster than the other too. Am I missing something? Why is there a discrepancy?

I know I'm adjusting both of them and am compressing both shafts all the way down. You can feel the "notch" and you KNOW when you're adjusting the rebound valve, there's stops in either direction.

I'm having these put on in the morning, I have a trip coming up in the afternoon and will be gone for days. Someone please help me if you've encountered this problem.

My experience with the Koni's is just to count the turns and set the firmness to you liking. After a fews miles on the car they will adjust themselves.

Thanks for the reply.


The instructions show a 180-degree turn for + firmness, 360-degree turn for ++ firmness, but that's all they show. I did the ++ and had them installed. So far so good.
