Looking for a New compressor recommendation, the good, the bad and the ugly. Having mine done as I speak, $480 for a Delphi unit, ouch! Can we find one less expensive for my fleet for the next time around?
New compressors are all made in China these days + probably are cheaper quality than factory ever was. It does not really matter of the brand, they are all made in the same Chinese factory. Blame chinese parts on the US govt GM bailout. I Never liked the Denso/ Delphi compressor clutch, it looks funny too.
Not knowing I could get the stock GM compressor rebuilt, I took my car to my local shop and had them replace it with an aftermarket unit. It blew up after about a week. Literally blew up. I turned the AC on one day and my car suddenly looked like a steam locomotive. It blew a chunk off the back of the compressor where the lines attach.
They replaced it and so far, no more problems.
But my butt hole still puckers whenever I turn it on, because the warranty is up.
This truck I was driving for a few years, it blew up 6 compressors in a row, cheapest of the cheap chinese compressor was put on. cwm2 I have a AC delco Made in mexico of imported parts compressor waiting to put on, seems to be nice, I have all the parts and tools it just needs to cool off here!
Yes you can rebuild the factory compressor I want to take apart mine, Basically the case O rings are prone to leaking as is is the shaft seal, if it was working ok and was quiet, if you reseal it it should be good to go.
The Delphi unit is one of the best made I have seen. I put two on last year, for a couple of friends. Better quality than the Four Seasons crap at Advance and also seemed to be better than the OEM (Delco).
hello everyone, so I have a 95 9c1 and both of my cooling fans run at the same time, both fans come on a couple of seconds after start up, so pulled the relays and both are good but when I went to pull fuse I noticed PRI/FAN fuse port is a little melted, how would I go about fixing this problem...
My 95 FWB-
@!#$ knock sensors: Aagh. I've been carrying around new knock sensors for a few years because the old ones wouldn't come out.
All I accomplished this time was to make the tack-welded tops on both knock sensors break loose and spin.. Great.
Can't fit a pipe wrench or vise-grips in...

I just installed a new A/C Compressor, and the clutch works and adequate refridgerant. But the car is bnasically just blowing the fan and not the A/C. The clutch is engaging when on max but i dont feel a difference. What can be the issue?
Only one radiator fan is turning on.
