For all you gear heads looking to increase traction, I have the perfect product for you. We all know that Metco makes a wonderful product for increasing traction with one minor setback. Metco's instant center puts your sway bar very close to the ground. For those of you who don't like to drag your sway bar on the ground and not have rear end squat, I have an alternative. Because I have not finished the patent process yet, I can not tell you how it works. What I can assure you of is that the design is strong and fairly easy to install. Assuming you have a welder or a good local welding shop. It will also be fairly inexpensive (actual price not known yet). As I stated before you will not have sway bar ground clearance problems with this product. You will also be able to easily adjust for your type of driving. By that I mean stock control arm location and two other positions for increased performance. I will also make the same product so you budget builders can extend your axle and not have to buy extended lowers, but you will still have to buy extended uppers. Currently I am in the process of determining if it is worth producing this product. If you or anyone you know are interested in this product, please reply and let me know. Please include any possible concerns and or ideas you may have. For future notice I have several other B body modifications that are quite awesome. I chose to start with this one first because it is the most advantageous. Thank you for reading and please respond, I will check back soon.

Matt

PS: I also have a mod where you can extend your lower and upper control arms and it does not require the longer driveshaft.

If there was a fairly inexpensive product that allowed the gains of the ICMs without dragging the HA sway bar on the ground I'd be interested as long is it didn't compromise any handling/ride quality for daily-driving use.

Ok guys I forgot to say a few things. Any time you change your instant center you will improve your straight line performance. You will also decrease your braking ability's. For those of you who have metco instant center brackets or any other brand, if you do not notice a decrease in braking performance you will not notice any difference in my product. Your handling in a corner of its self should not change. So it’s six to one half a dozen to the other but that’s why my product is adjustable. There will be the stock setting, a setting to improve take off but not drastically kill your braking ability and also a setting for extreme acceleration. I will also be able to help you guys who like to lower your car to the ground. This is a mod that will help you because of the fact that there will be more than one version of this product. Meaning for stock height and lowered cars, because when you lower your car you change a lot of geometry in the suspension. I forgot to mention that you will NOT need to modify your CA bushings. I would like to know if there is anybody in the CT Tri State area that would like to test this product before it goes public. If so please email me and I will inform you of the details. Again thanx for reading and please let me know what you think yay or nay.

Sorry Mike454SS I thought I said something in my last post I do apologize. Anyways no it’s not the same in fact it’s a whole new perch which does many things. Now to answer transistor, it should have a few guys testing in a few weeks. After the bugs are worked out it should only be a short matter of time. Again I am sorry but I can’t tell you the price yet. I don’t know myself, so I don’t want to low ball myself nor turn you guys away. Here are all the advantages and as I go there are more and more. We all know GM’s center of gravity of is ridiculous so this is the adjustable way to change that. I would also like to retract my statement of braking ability I have been talking with a few people and they say they didn’t notice a difference at all with the Metcos. If any one has noticed other wise please post. I also want to make clear that I am not saying Metcos Instant Centers are bad, actually Ron at Metco and I have talked and he’s happy to hear there is a better version. Depending how things work out he may be the manufacturer. For those of you who don’t understand the concept of how this mod works please read Metcos page. http://www.metcoinc.com/controlarms/instantc.shtml

1: increases traction, reduces rear end squat and does not compromise cornering ability
2: quickly and easily adjustable to two other than stock positions, maybe three
3: no need to modify lower rear CA bushings
4: moves lower shock mounting point forward ¾
5: kit will include new spring perch to relocate lower part of spring ¾ forward
6: stronger then stock design
7: WILL NOT create any ground clearance problems with sway bar (in fact it will make it hire then stock)
8: very easy to install (assuming you can weld)
9: a few different versions of perch’s depending on your suspension setup
10: best of all if you do not like the mod you can put your geometry back to stock and cut off the excess material
11: will work with any CA, swaybar, spring, shock, bushing setup

PS. If there are any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.
Thanks Matt Bartley

Does this statement apply to all possible positions?

You seem very set on having it move the axle 3/4 backward. What about for those of us who don't want to move the axle back at all? I don't mind the slight cosmetic effect, I prefer to have the axle properly centered under the frame (which it is).

First to answer Ram Air 9C1, these measurements may depend on a few things, being that I have 26’’ tire diameter. Example if you have 28’’ the #’s will vary by one inch, because of the fact that you would be increasing your radius dimension from the ground. As I was saying, when in stock position the sway bar will be about 9 ½ off the ground, when in the max performance position your swaybar will be about 6’’ off the ground. In other positions you will be some where in between those #’s. Now remember depending on your CA’s, swaybar and tire diameter those measurements may change but over all I think this is a great improvement being that the stock height from factory is about 7’’.

Ok Mike, Sorry I did word that wrong in my first post, but I did get a little more in to it on the second one, but not enough. With this new axle perch you can keep your axle where it is or move it back depending on which version you buy. There will be no need for anybody to modify my product in order to install on any B-body (91-96). In fact I have not checked yet but there is no reason I can think of why it wont work on earlier then 91 B-body's. The only thing a customer will have to do is tell me what CA's (stock or extended) they are intending to use, if they want to extend there axle with or with out extended lower CA's, and what springs they are using. This Product may also be in another version as I said before. So far I have figured out the best way to keep everyone happy with this new axle perch is to have 6 versions. I am doing all the math so all you need to tell me is what's above and your intended outcome. I hope I explained this well enough but as before don’t hesitate to ask more questions.

Thanks, MattBartley
