Hi guys, just wanted to get something going in here, I have just finished slaving over my install (8 hours) of a Pioneer 7" indash screen, master unit, ps2, 12 cd changer, vcr, 2 amps, rewiring for all that thanks to the previous idiot installer (i will do my own stuff from now on, since i cant seem to trust anyone) My question would be, where should i install the PS2, right now it is in the backseat, i have the master unit on the rear deck, i think it will be cool there after i make a cover of cloth for it
One idea i have is a platform right behind the center console, and maybe those control holding things from bestbuy and places like that. OK, WHat do you guys think, suggestions please?

Put the PS2 in the glove box. I wouldn't put anything on the rear deck because of the heat and the sun coming directly down on it. Mount the head unit where the ash tray is if you don't smoke. Remove the ashtray and tray and place it there.

Or you could do what I was planing on and cut the metal behind the rear arm rest and put the PS2 right there, u can ever highlight it with some neons.

Hey Rami, we should go out to westhimer sometime. I don't to many hail members that take there cars out there.

With minor cutting, a PS2 will fit INSIDE the center console. Rick Garza did this (RickSS on the forum) and the PS2 is completely hidden with the console lid closed.

Southern comfort- Thats a good idea if it could fit right or get it customized, i even thought about putting it where the passenger side air bag is and have a clear plexi glass on top w/neon but there is theft concern and that safety thing

Balla- I got mine last year so i think it should be a newer one, i hope it plays standing up, cause i like Ed's suggestion-I have pretty dark tint and will have a cover so maybe it'll be alright I'll try to get pics when i put the finishing touches

Adam-I would love to have it there and a way to have the controlers in the arm rest but i didnt like the idea of cutting and think it might get too hot there.I used to go out to westheimer alot, only other impala i saw was Mike Higgins coming through one night, where do you go exactly??TacoCabana,KMART.....

ED- I never thought of that, that would be convenient to have it there, but i dont know if mounts like that with the tray coming straight up, how did Rick do it, does he have pics

Keep them coming, those were great, i also noticed my headlights dim on songs that have alot of deep bass, would a second capacitor help?

P.S. i got my sig to work finally
looks good, thanks HACK

Rami,
I have been on the street in a while, I may or maynot head out there this weekend. I might be doing my stereo install. I have two head units, I was gona put in my Alipine stuff but I am thinking of waiting til I get my carpet to run the wires alot easyer. But I know I need to re tune the amps replace my mounting kit.

Anyways usually head out to westhimer and cruse up and down and if its still open I will go to star bucks. This weekend I was thinking of going street meeet at greenspoint mall.

Sorry i got off topic :D

racerss,

well as far as adding a second cap. it might be a good idea. i have one lighting cap and my lights dimmed a little then i bought a gell cell for my main battery.
It did help but when i am driving on a dark road with no one on it. you can see the lights dim just a tad but you really cant tell. i plan on adding on more gell cell and two caps.
i dont think i want to spend the money on one of those alt.'s. i have had my system for 3-4 yrs and it still hits hard and flex's my quarters about 1". lol ass far as the ps2 i have seen them right below the glove box where your kick panel is. it is out of the way of the sun and people cant see it. also you can access really easy.
the only trick is that you have to find a way to mount it.

I would also do it under the glove box easy to get to and no cutting. ;)

I had to add my two cents in just because I had the PS2 and a 7'' Pioneer screen installed. My setup is extremely pricey and rare. I had the 7 inch mounted were the air conditioning is, the air conditioning controls are mounted in the cup holder (96 SS), and the PS2 is mounted in the trunk right below my amps. The Trunk thing is a pain in the ass for accessability but cosmetically pretty and if I could do it all over again I would probably put it somewhere inside the car but no cutting was necessary for the trunk install. I will post some pics as soon as I take some pictures of the install. I could not believe the work my guys did on the install. One question, if you have the PS2 that plays DVD's why the need for a VCR (just curious)? Sorry for boring all of you.

OK, i think i have decided to add a cap later, and try and mount the ps2 underneath the glovebox. The reason i have a VCR is to control tv channels. I am interested in seeing those pics, And as soon i take some pics i'll post them.

Adam-I'll most likely be out on westheimer tonite, if i am , i'll look out for the impala with fat wheels :D

Later,

Would a PS2 fit under the front seats? I forget exactly how big they are. The rear armrest idea sounds like the best one to me. I doubt it'd get too hot back there for it. Plus you'd be able to flip the armrest up and hide it when not in use.

I dont know much about about custom work, but dont the unit need to be where the controls can reach backseat riders. If I was a passanger in the front, I wouldnt want wires reaching across me, so they can play in the rear.

Sorry to anyone who tried to view my pics. Here is the correct link. My bad
Another thing, the controls are located in the center console, fished through with some wire extensions under the carpet. I did not include those pics.

CalicoSS that looks sharp
How did you interface the P1R to the video minitor, did your installers use a CD-RB20. Do you have to push the AUX button to watch the video.

I too have the P1R but I use the CD-RB20 for my iPod
