sorry it took so long to post...here is what got sent to the membership a few weeks back...

Now, a lot of you are saying you're going, but WE NEED YOU TO SIGN UP NOW! Even if you aren't going, ISSCA still needs your support and you can support the event from afar with an awesome supporter package that gets you an event t-shirt and a goodie bag. But, the bottom line is we are behing on registrations (what's new, right?) because the Impala crowd always waits until the last minute to register. However this year it's important you register ASAP because we need to start sending deposits out and we don't want to have to cancel this kickass AIR CONDITIONED CAR SHOW event due to lack of motivation on everyone's part...

Dear ISSCA Members Past, Present, and Future;

May the Fourth be with you! I just wanted to drop you all a note to let you know we are ‘ALL SYSTEMS GO, READY FOR LAUNCH’ for the 2016 ISSCA Nationals in New Orleans, Louisiana. That’s right, The Big Easy, NOLA, will host this year’s Nationals. We be kicking off Tuesday, July 26th and will continue through Saturday, July 30th. The ISSCA Board of Directors has been working hard to provide everyone with another great event and we can’t wait to see everyone there!

To give you an idea of the great events we have planned for you:

Tuesday, July 26th – REGISTRATION & CHECK IN plus possible Dyno & Tuning Day
Wednesday, July 27th – AUTO-X all day at NOLA
Thursday, July 28th – ROAD RACING all day at NOLA
Friday, July 29th – Drag Racing at No Problem Raceway at NIGHT plus possible Dyno & Tuning all day
Saturday, July 30thINDOOR, AIR CONDITIONED ISSCA Car Show, Sound Off, & Awards Banquet

As you can see it’s almost a full week of action. ISSCA Public Relations Officer Andrew Stewart claims you will be having so much fun it will probably take a trained medical professional days to wipe the smile off your face. Registration is in full swing, and we need your participation as always to make this another great event. We are keeping registration open until midnight, Thursday, June 30th but after that date we can’t guarantee a shirt in your size, so please get registered ASAP. The link is below. Last year’s event, by all accounts, was amazing, and we’ve upped the ante this year with a new location at another world class facility.

Also, this is a perfect opportunity (and reminder) to renew your 2016 ISSCA Membership! Please renew or rejoin now, your support helps keep the club going! If you’ve already done so, then thank you! We will be reinstituting the ISSCA SScene e-Magazine this year, another ISSCA member favorite, so stay tuned for information on that as well.

For all of you who would like to attend but might not have your car ready, or cannot make it at all but want to be part of the event in absentia, we have our very popular SSupporter Package. You will get an event goody bag and an event t-shirt with some great artwork mailed to you after the event (or pick it up in person at Nats). This supporter package is a great bargain at $49 including shipping and is a great way to be a part of the event (and also help support ISSCA) from wherever you are that week. Go to www.issca.org or more directly go to www.issca.org/issca-national-gathering/ for the registration page.

For those of you not registered yet but are still on the fence, this is an amazing week that you don’t want to miss. Some say New Orleans is a bit stuffy that time of year so what did your friendly neighborhood ISSCA BOD members do? WE GOT YOU AN INDOOR CAR SHOWAND AWARDS BANQUET for after the car show! That’s right, we will be in the cool, comfortable Pontchartrain Center all day Saturday, July 30th! No heavy breathing, no stuffy air, just cool and relaxing indoor air conditioning while you admire everyone’s ride and clean yours up as well.
http://www.pontchartraincenter.com/site.php

This year we will be road racing and autocrossing at NOLA Motor Sports Park https://nolamotor.com . The road racing will be on a 2.75 mile world-class track that consists of 16 turns with a 3,360 foot straightaway. Designed with challenge and safety in mind, the track offers both the club level and professional driver an amazing experience. The best part is, you race at your own pace so all are welcome and encouraged to participate. Only one car will be on the track at a time so you can go as fast or as leisurely as you like. Trust me, this is a blast. It looks intimidating but once you are out there and try it you’ll be hooked. Not a single person has ever done it and said they were sorry they tried it. By the way - not a single traffic ticket has ever been given out for ‘going too fast’ on this private road course, so come on out and have a blast! Additionally, the day before we road race at NOLA we will be there for our autocross competition on a course set up by legendary champion SCCA autocrosser and ISSCA icon Carla “Red” Russo. Come out and see how good you are at killing cones like the rest of us! Also, back by popular demand, are the parade laps with a professional photographer shooting your car with amazing backdrops out on the track.

On Friday evening we will head over to No Problem Raceway, a highly rated drag racing facility known for their racer friendly attitude. Check them out: http://www.noproblemraceway.com/Track_Info.html They will slot us in with their Test & Tune program so we will get to see some other really nice cars at the track along with our own Impala’s and other cool B-D Bodies. During the day on Friday we are working to get Bryan Herter from PCMForLess to do some dyno tuning for ISSCA members and their rides. More info on that coming shortly.

One final note - we realize that not everyone can get the whole week off from work. We purposely scheduled the car show/sound off/awards banquet on Saturday July 30th since it’s the most heavily participated event at Nationals each year. ISSCA fans that can’t make it during the week often come JUST for Saturday’s festivities and to see all the cars and ISSCA members in one spot. It’s a great day with a lot of B-Body camaraderie! The SSuper SSport package gets you in to the event and the car show and parade laps and a ticket to the banquet and access to all events for only $99. So come one and come all, it’s going to be another spectacular event and remember: ISSCA can’t do it without you!

Here’s hoping to see you July 26th - or any other time during the week!

Peace, love, and horsepower,
Bill

Almost 70 people have viewed this thread and no one has commented?

We have about 30 people registered - by this point last year we had 50. Need to get registrations up or we are in serious danger of having to cancel! :(

I'd sure hate to see that happen. As it would likely have a chilling effect on having events like this in the future as well... Suspect all those who always want to wait until the last minute to register will be the same ones wondering why we don't have these events anymore, after ISSCA gets really burned on one of these deals. If you know you want to attend, then step up to the plate. It's not as if it's still six months away,it's next month (hopefully)... Rant over...

As the excitement of ISSCA Nationals grows near, I just wanted to put out a few announcements and also share a great reconnaissance mission from our intrepid ISSCA Anonymous Traveler. Enjoy the great write-up/scouting report and the announcements below. Hope to see a lot of you next month, this event is going to be awesome! If you’re on the fence…what are you waiting for? It’s The Big Easy and B-Bodies, is there anything more fun?
Thanks,
Bill

To sign up for ISSCA Nats or help support it with a SSuporter package please go directly to: http://issca.org/issca-national-gathering/

From Mike Lukens: Window Rollers - Just want to let everyone know that I will be at Nats and will be ready to repair window problems. I have rollers and clips and can do one door in about 20 minutes. Each door will be $20.00. I can also solder up the 96 odometer resistors. We are looking to maybe have a seminar on window fixes so stay tuned for that.
From Michael Reck: For now until the end of the year, I am going to donate any and all profits from my sales of Amsoil products to ISSCA. If any of you guys wish to purchase Amsoil products, please email a list of your Amsoil needs and I will respond with the price including shipping. Please contact me privately on FB or email : [email protected]
From Bryan Herter at PCMForLess: We are currently trying to set up dyno tuning at the Nats this year and are looking at Friday morning since we will probably have to use an in ground dyno as we are having trouble finding a mobile unit. Figured it would be best to start by seeing what interest there is in tuning this year at the event.

The Anonymous Traveler Journeys to New Orleans

In anticipation of the Impala Super Sport Club of America (ISSCA) annual gathering in July the Anonymous Traveler (AT) slipped into the Big Easy to see what the members would experience. The first stop was the host hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn.

Located next to Lake Ponchartrain, the hotel is within walking distance of a Casino, the Coconut Beach Volleyball bar and the Off Track Betting bar and restaurant. It is also next door to the Ponchartrain Center where the car show will be held on Saturday.

The AT observed a well lit and secure parking area for members wishing to park trailers beside the Ponchartrain Center.

The AT learned that most of the host hotel ISSCA block is sold out and the hotel is booked solid on Thursday July 28. There is a Bar Exam at the Ponchartrain Center. The AT could not understand why it is necessary to pass an exam to open a bar in Louisiana; then it was determined the exam is for lawyers…

The next stop was the Holiday Inn Crown Plaza-the backup hotel. Rooms are still available there.

It was time to follow the itinerary for the week. On Tuesday July 26 everyone registers at the Hilton Garden Inn-included with registration will be a goodie bag containing suggested side trips such as Plantation Tours and the WWII museum for the families.

On Wednesday July 27 the Autocross drivers will form up at 7:45 am in front of the Hilton Garden Inn. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s department will escort the participants to NOLA Motorsports Park. The lead car will be a 2016 SS from Bryon Chevrolet.

The AT observed an 8 acre pad set up for Autocross at NOLA. Carla and Jose will build a fine course for the event. Lunch will be available at the Kart Kafe across from the course. Fuel is available with a credit card. After a day of cone crashing everyone will be on their own for dinner.

On Thursday July 28 the Road Course drivers will form up at 7:45 am to follow the SS to NOLA with the same escort. At Nola the AT discovered a Ford Pick-em-up with the keys in it and drove the 1.8 mile and the 2.7 mile road courses. Given that the Ferd could barely finish the 2.7 mile tract it seemed only reasonable that the ISSCA course should be the long course…

On Thursday evening the ISSCA charity dinner will be at ZEA’s Restaurant. ZEA’s is close to both host hotels; a private room is at ISSCA’s disposal. Participants will order from the menu-10% of each check will go to the American Warriors Foundation. Look for the Impala SS special cocktail…

On Friday July 29 drag racing will be at No Problem Raceway. The AT has done a road course event at No Problem and was impressed with the drag racing facility.

On Saturday the Car Show will be indoors at the Ponchartrain Center which is next door to the host hotel. The AT confirmed that the Sound Off will be held outside so when the participants enter the show hall they will be able to disconnect their battery per Center Rules. A fire official will be present to ensure all cars entering the hall have less than ½ tank of fuel. The price one pays for an air conditioned car show…

When the car show is over everyone walks upstairs for dinner and awards.

The AT was impressed with the venues – July should be a great experience for the ISSCA faithful!

Dear ISSCA Members Past & Present,

We need your help! The ISSCA Nationals in New Orleans from July 26th to July 30th are in serious danger of being canceled due to lack of pre-registrations. We know how passionately you all love your B-Bodies, and every year the ISSCA Board of Directors spends a considerable amount of time and energy and money to put on a great show. We also know that ISSCA Members are notorious for signing up late for events, so this email is to remind everyone to get signed up ASAP or unfortunately we will have to make some tough decisions. If you were planning on signing up and forgot or were delaying registering and don’t need to read another word please go right now to: www.issca.org/issca-national-gathering/ to register. We have heard of some Windows Explorer issues trying to access the ISSCA website so we recommend using Google Chrome or another browser that seems to be more compatible. ISSCA thanks you in advance.

Registrations are behind where they were at this point last year and our ISSCA Treasurer is reminding me that we have to start sending out the rest of the deposits or final payments for the event over the next few weeks. We don’t want to throw the members good money after bad so we are imploring you to sign up for the event now. If you are planning on going and need a little time to register, please reply to this email and let us know that you will be signing up. These events generally cost $25,000 to run so these are some big decisions we have to make in a very short timeframe. Come on ISSCA Members, I know you have it in you!

“Bill, I’m so sorry that I can’t make it this year…but how can I help?” That’s ok if you can’t make it, we know life goes on for everyone. Here’s the good news - even if you can’t make it to New Orleans we have a few ways you can help. First of all, please go and renew your dues if you haven’t done so. Every bit helps and remember, this is your club – “For the Members, By the Members!” and we can’t do it without you.

Ways you can help: We have a very popular supporter package that gets you an event t-shirt and a goodie bag from the event that we will mail to you. Additionally you can also donate to the cause on top of (or in lieu of) that. Donations don’t always have to be money, we know things might be tight - so if you have a cool new or used B-Body part you want to donate to the cause that we can auction off at Nationals you can do that too! Finally, more sponsors are always welcome and will get you plenty of ink and airtime at the event as well as a full or partial page ad in the event.

We have heard from a few of you that can’t make it, and some have said, “Bill, it’s too far!” or “Bill, it’s too hot!” My reply to that is that the best part about owning a big, powerful, comfortable, luxurious land yacht is the road trips! The roadtrip is what America was built on! Renew your sense of adventure and get on the highway! We have a lot of members who are making New Orleans a vacation destination for this year, combining two of the best things ever into one. B-Bodies and vacations! There is always plenty to do and see in New Orleans, it’s an amazing and unique place. I don’t need to sell you on that locale but if you’ve never been there this is a perfect excuse. Bring the wife/girlfriend/significant other and make it a vacation and road trip you will talk about forever.

As far as the heat is concerned, we do understand it’s hot and muggy that time of year but we did a little research and it’s not much worse than most places are that time of the year…and we promise it won’t be Tulsa 2003 hot and muggy! Anyway, we did listen to the members and we have secured an INDOOR, AIR CONDITIONED venue to make the car show a once in a lifetime experience as well as the awards ceremony immediately afterwards. If you haven’t been to an indoor car show you’re missing out! This is all in addition to the amazing venues we have to race at below.

The bottom line is we need you and we need you now! Please help keep this awesome event (and club) going by helping in any way possible. See below email for full details. If you are local and can only make it Saturday for the car show and awards banquet on July 30th, that’s great too! We would love to see you and many think that’s the best day anyway - especially if your racing/competition days are behind them.

SEE BELOW FOR ALL THE INFO!

Thanks in advance,
Bill

ISSCA 2016 Nationals Artwork - pretty cool, right? Who wants a shirt with Big John's 8 second twin turbo Impala with it's wheels in the air?
