Hi Everyone -

I just wanted to drop in here really quickly to let you know about our event, The Open Track Challenge. Does 7 of the best tracks on the West Coast in 7 days sound like fun? How about full day time trials at each site using the Formula One qualifying format? There are classes for trailered cars and cars that drive the entire competitive route. And, at the end of the week, a big party and awards banquet at one of the casino-hotels on Vegas's Strip. If you're interested, please visit www.opentrackchallenge.com for more information or www.nsxfiles.com where Doug Hayashi (an OTC Organizer) has laid down the gauntlet to other automotive groups.

I apologize to the moderators if there was a better way to announce this. Hope to see y'all out there!

After studying all of the classes I find it hard to see where the Impala SS can really compete. The only class that we fit in is with the Vipers and Vettes. Am I missing something here. Would really like to compete if there is a class we can be competitive with.

I'd class it in Touring or Unlimited Four with all other sedans with an MSRP under $35,000. You could also jump into the mix with the Vettes and Vipers on the basis of engine displacement, but I'm not sure what kind of sadist would do such a thing. A well-driven Impala could do well in T4/U4 against Ford Lightnings and some of the low-power imports.
