Is it the light itself that go out, or the plastic lense?

If its just the light, I might have a solution for that.

it's the light. It's EL tape, and overtime moisture ruins them, or they just burn out. LEDs are not a viable solution. a straight CCFL would be as it's soft light. You don't want in your face light for it, or you'll get lots of unintended attention.

EL wire/tape is a very soft non intensive light:

Thats exactly what I was gonna recomend. EL Tape.

I found that years ago, and was gonna get some for my Torino Tailight.

It had a dead area(honeycomb that the GTs Had) inbetween the real lights.

Also under the door sills, so it would iluminate the logo I designed.

But I never did that. I should do it now.

Saying I have Fletwood sills in my wagon :)

the only issue is terminating the ends of the tape is very very very hard to do (unlike eL wire)

I just bought some for my 96 roadmaster these were from a jkyard and from 93 roadmaster and they had "ROADMASTER" on them. (thats what i thought look kinda neat) How do they light up? There looks like a place for a bulb on the back but there were no wires in the jkyard car or i look mine car does not have any either.

If they don't have two pins out of the back of it, then they're not "lights". They're just purely decorative.
