My friend has a caprice and I opened his hood and it look just like mine. I was wonder if he had a LT1 or did the caprice 9c1 (I think thats the engine name) looks the same as the LT1. He brought the car heavily mod'ed so he really doesn't know what he has, but when we race he can't keep up on faster than a geo can, (with my 22's on) and my mods are not that heavy. Maybe he has a LT1 but it's a bad motor?

You could alway remove the heads and check the bore size.


Or check the casting numbers on the block, 327 is LT1 and 588 is L99.

For referance, they are cast in large numbers on the sides of the block.
