Looks like a fun project.
Since you featured the Electronic Climate Control I thought I'd mention that when I upgraded the radio head in my Buick I lost the dimmer feature on the ECC display panel. It was fed by a wire out of the radio and the guys that put in the new radio didn't want to "jump" the wires for fear of cooking the ECC display. A couple sheets of stick on window tint has fixed the problem for now but if your system is the same and you ever try "jumping" the dimmer wires I'd love to know how it works out.
