I have been looking into who can build our reverse rotation pump now that Lee is out of the business and it's been difficult to find a good shop. While looking into a place to buy a PS pulley, I saw that Turn-one was building them, so I emailed them. It turns out that they do not make the pulley anymore, but they do rebuild our pumps. Here is the correspondence this far:

We can, and have been, servicing the reverse rotation pumps for LT1 applications. We also have the ability to upgrade the pump to reduce horsepower consumption and reduce fluid temperatures, making the pumps longevity under high performance driving second to none. A standard rebuild starts at $100, if you would like us to upgrade the pump, it starts at $175.

As for the pulley, at this time we no longer produce a pulley for LT1 applications.

I read through a post from 2014 that said they were not building reverse pumps at that time, so it's good to see that they now are. I'll be sending a pump to them in the next few weeks so I will keep everyone posted.

How did this turn out for you?
I just talked to Jeff at Turn One today and he said they can't and never have done modifications to the B-body LT1 PS pump for reduced heat/load at high rpm. F body yes. Y body yes. 3 different LT1 pumps :(

After seeing your post, I reached out again. This is what he said:

I have to apologize, I made a mistake when I responded to your original email. We can rebuild the pump, but we can not upgrade it in anyway. The parts no longer exist to upgrade your style of pump. We can rebuild it and return it to factory specs. The Impala uses a GM N style pump that is also reverse rotation. It is a very uncommon combination. I mistook it for the CB style pump that is used on the Camaro LT1. My apologizes. If you would like us to freshen up your pump, we would be happy to do so.

I shipped a pump to them for a general rebuild, so we will see how it goes.

They CAN do internal modifications to the B-body pump, but only if your pump is in good condition (ie. there are two stock internal parts they mentioned that they can no longer get and are crucial to the modification process). From their description, it sounds like the mods aren't as extensive, and probably not quite as effective, as what Turn One does for the Y and F pumps.

I'm also going to pursue another option: trying to find a larger pulley that fits the B-body pump. Turn One told me no such thing exists, but I'll see how creative I can get. Also need to check if there is enough radial clearance between idler and alternator pulleys to accept a larger diameter PS pulley.

A larger PS pulley is very "iffy" with the B-body accessory package. It actually might be better to see if there's a way to make a Camaro LT1 FEAD work, but there's no simple fix, other than an underdrive on the crank pulley diameter (compared to stock).

Steering Technology Group
has resumed business from what was formerly Lee Manufacturing. If you're still in search of a solution on the pump side, contact them to see what's possible.
