I have a 96 impala ss. The car starts and runs great. when I goto change the gear from park to drive. The car cuts completely off. But when I release the brake before it cuts off it will continue to run. Idk what that means. But does anybody have any idea to what that is.

Probably some issue with your vacuum brake booster I would think. Massive intake leak when you put your foot on the brake.

The only noise I hear is the clicking noise. No vacuum leak

If it does this everytime you touch the brake pedal could be the the ground wire in the trunk.
What happens if you put the 4 way flashers on ?

I haven't tried the flasher yet. Where is the ground wire at in the trunk.

Intermittent Fuel Pump - UPDATE***Problem Solved

Well the Caprice is still giving me issues :( I replaced the fuel pump(new Delphi), strainer, and fuel filter on Saturday. I replaced the pump because I wasn’t getting any response from it. The fuel pump did not run at all, so I wasn’t getting any pressure. I swapped the FP relay...

my 1996 new Impala all my years new and today ....
the shifter is the switch next to the shifter handle inside it .. take the handle off and then take off the plastic box .. look up the switch .. I was adjusting it with the cable of the shifter
..also the brake pedal switch is a wear next the the BK pedal rod ..
