When I got my impala it needed a new frame and they put a 9c1 frame on. I took it to my alingment guy and he said the front of the frame needed to be pulled out about a 1/4 inch so he couldn't get all the shims on, so he aligned the best he could and said it's fine but you ought to let them pull the frame out to get it proberly aligned. Well it rode pretty good and then I got some billstein shocks and hotchkiss springs on. Looked good, but I started to notice a popping noise on the front passenger. Couldn't remember if I had it before or not. I started to notice my front tires wearing to the inside. I take it to the guy to pull the frame so I can get aligned just right,give him the specs, and he says the frame is straight the springs are the problem. My tow is way off and my tires are sitting like / \, of course not that bad. He said it sits to low and I don't have much room. He also said the driver's side is almost fine and the passenger side is real bad.I don't drive it much except for nice days and my tires are almost bald on the inside and are like brand new on the outside. To fix the problem he has to put my stock fronts on. I want the hotchkiss springs on there, but supposedly thats the problem. Is something wrong? what's goin on? Alot of people have this setup with no problems. I am getting pissed
. Any knowledge on the subject will help. please.

I forgot to mention that supposedly the hotchkiss springs will drop about an inch and me and the guy who installed them said it looked lower than an inch. In fact the front almost tucks. The wheelwell is about level with the top of the tire and they are stock rims and bf goodrich tires the same original size. I don't know if that is normal,but it looks good :D

FWIW it sounds like you need to get to a good body shop with a frame table and have the frame checked out.They have been known to sag over time. Or the 9C1 could have been hit at some time.
If it is bent a body shop can pull it straight. If its just sag, offset upper bushing bars (not the right name for it) are available that will allow more adjustment to the camber.
One thing to think about is the Impala sits the lowest of the Caprices and there is less range of movement for the suspension to work.

The shop it's at now can pull out the frame, they just didn't check it first, if that is the problem. He was showing me when the car sits on the ground the front sway bar gets almost right on the frame on both sides and there isn't much room, like you said. Is there anything else I can get to fix this problem or make it work and where can I get those bushings. Also is this normal for these springs.

I'd like to know your measurement from level surface to center of wheel well fender lip. I'm assuming you're running stock size 27" wheel/tire combo. I'm at 25.75". I don't think your problem is "being too low". I think you just need a GOOD alignment guy.

This is because you need shorter sway bar end links when you lower the car.

The poor wear pattern on your tires is due to a poor alignment. If your alignment guy can't get the camber right with all the shims removed, then you need the offset cross-shafts on the upper control arm.

I don't have my car right now so I can't get a measurement, but it is stock impala wheels along with I think 255/50/17 bfg kdws tires. Where can I get the shorter swaybar end links and the offset cross shafts for the upper control arm. I would like to put the springs back on even though my dad thinks I'm crazy to put them on.

You can get shorter end links from places like Energy Suspension, NAPA, or even from your GM dealer. An alternate method is to cut down the sleeve on the set you have and get an appropriate length bolt to replace the stocker (or thread the stock one more). They need to be of a length that makes the ends of the swaybar parallel with the ground.

The offset shafts can also be purchased from NAPA, GM, or the like.

My neighbor works at speed unlimited and he said just give him a measurement of how long I need it and he will bring me home a kit for like $15. Do any of you know how long I need for the best results or is it different on most cars.
