Im currently running the 383/D1sc setup and im not seeing more then 11psi on the guage but the pulley is rated for 15psi i know this varies with exhaust and head...etc..., but i like to know what the max boost you guys are getting from your D1. Id like to up my boost if all possible to 15psi.

And if you guys dont mind what setup are you guys running?

The pressure will drop (but not the power) with heads that flow really well. Since the boost pressure is only a measure of restriction it's normal for an engine with high flow heads (less restrictive...) to show a lower PSI reading @ the same HP levels.

So, if the kit is rated @ 15 psi with stock heads it'll build less boost with ported heads but make more power.

What heads do you have on that motor?

I believe displacement factors in too, if your pulley is spec'd for 15psi on a stock 350 it will make less boost on a 383. The boost rating of a pulley is also really just a suggestion, it's gonna vary with every setup. If you need more try a pulley a quarter inch smaller.

Yup i pretty much assumed that bypass valve wasnt any good, ive been contemplating getting the procharger proflo valve for 260 at this local ship are these things any cheaper any where else.

The pulley measures at 3.34 inches. and the Heads are the stock Iron LT1 heads but ported, 2.00/1.6 valves.

the proflo are good up to 10 to 12 psi big red or like i am doing the tail Q 50mm blow off valve with 2lb spring in it its is cheeper then the big red for pro charger valve

I run the 8lbs pulley on a 383 Stroker with dished pistons, 52MM TB and ported aluminum heads. At the dyno tune, we saw 10lbs booSSt at 6,000rpm but autometer gauge showed slightly less.

whats size pulley are you running to get the 8lbs
thanks
4.75in - Check clamps and fittings for leakage. I have a custom ground cam with longer duration to take better advantage of the boost. What about the crank pulley? The bigger it is, the faster it will spin the blower.

Thats something i still need to measure. Ill see if i can schedule time off work to visit the mechanic across town working on her. Sure am hoping its the smaller version. Thanks for that reminder completely forgot about the crank pulley. I dont think they make a smaller 12 rib pulley then the one i have.

Not to hijack the thread but I am building a 383 LT1 D1SC with a 12Rib 3.4" blower pulley and a 7.65" crank pulley. I am trying to find a bracket for it. I am currently in Kuwait and I really dont want to get it fabricated here. So does anyone know where I can get one or have any dimensions of a bracket that would work?

So finally got to the shop to do some measuring and also a update on what exactly happened to my motor.

Im currently running the max setup for the D1 7.77" crank pulley and a 3.34" blower pulley is spinning the charger to its near its max @61,997 rpms...

Im thinking of upgrading the intercooler to a water/air cooler and also adding a Meth-injections kit to keep IATs down

This below is something i might be considering since im at the blowers max.

what do you guys think?

I think that is a race-only part and you will not be able to run an air filter.

Get a quality water/meth kit and leave everything else alone.

+1 !!!

Water/meth injection is awesome, I wouldn't build another street turbo setup without it. cwm7

Dragging this topic up from a year ago. I'm reworking a D1SC setup for a 383 LT1. Revised bracket with better brace, spring tensioner and better belt wrap. Crank pulley od is about 7.875" but to the midpoint of the belt groove looks like 7.25 or so. Not sure how ATI measures. Measuring the blower pulley, I get about 3.4" in the grooves.

Does this sound like the max-boost setup? Previous owner is pretty sure he saw 18-20# when he had the belt tension as tight as he can get it, but Combination only set him up with a Walbro 225 pump and 50# injectors.... this isn't5 adding up. If this is the 18# setup the fuel system is way undersized...

what kind of engine was this on? 18# on a 350 with stock-ish heads is very different than 18# on a healthy 383.

9:1 forged 381 (0.020). NA it put down 322 at the wheels. Iron heads ported, peak at 280ish cfm.
