A SS I looked at pulled to the sides when I drove it. It had bald tires and has been sitting for 2 years. Would you think the tires and a bad idler arm have to do with this?

Could be a number of things from loose steering parts and/or (since you mentioned it sitting for a long time) maybe the brakes (calipers) are sticking causing it to pull. i wouldn't think any steering parts should be worn out at that mileage but you never know. Were the tires evenly bald?
If they weren't worn out all uneven it should be a decents sign that the steering isn't worn. Oh, make sure the tire pressure is up and even on all sides, that can make it pull too.

Swap the front tires & see what difference it makes. - Jim
