I will be installing a low milage good transmission this weekend.
I think this is the 5th or 6th 4L60E I have changed out.

My question is regarding fluid. What is the best way to fill it correctly? What are the correct steps Do I just dump 10-12 quarts then start the car and put it through all the gears to get the fluid moving, then top off from there, or do I drive it around with that much fluid till warmed up then check level. I never seem to do this step correctly. I have tried to dump alot of fluid in before only to have it come pouring out of the top of the fill tube, but it was not full yet.

ive always filled the torque converter then put in a couple quarts then started the car and pour in the rest with it running in neutral...never had any problems so far

Put as much in the TC as possible, 1+ Qts.
PUt some in the pan, I dont like to over fill them so I only do a touch more than the pan can hold.
Start the car and start filling.
When you start to get full, go through all the gears.
I leave it just under full just a touch. Habit I guess, no real reason.
