Before I panic, anyone have any ideas? Sound's like a ratchet banging around in a coffee can. It will increase when the rpm's go up. Tried searching, can't view any of the old threads.

Thanks,

Have you drained the oil or checked the filter for metal?

Are you _certain_ it is from the engine, and not the;
1. torque converter/flywheel,
2. passenger side cat?

The cat is my guess. When they come apart inside, they can make quite a racket. Check there.

does it range in sound when RPMs increase or decrease? sure hope it's not a rod cwm8for your sake. also, if that cat was previously clogged i would think there would be driveability problems and possibly a CEL.

Found the problem... somehow, from somewhere (I haven't found where yet) a 13mm x 1 inch bolt got behind the power steering pully and was making the rattle. Problem fixed and a tremendous sigh of relief!

Patience. When whatever isn't bolted to the block now falls off, you may see total destruction.
