Hey Guys , Just left my car over at a shop and the mechanic said he wd. not install the springs as they are way to short and the springs COULD fall out IF one hits a big dip/ pothole and Its a liability to him if something wd. happened? HE said call around and get rear shocks that are say 2 inches lower than the stock 9c-1 springs and He wd. do it Whats up with this, IS it the stock rear 9c-1 springs are that much higher than the stock rear Impala SS springs as I know many have put these rear springs on Impala ss??

This Sucks????

Thanks

I just called a parts store and they said the mounting for the 9c-1 rear shocks take two bolts up above and the SS shocks takes one bolt up top ...

Not only that the stock over all length for the 9c-1 and the Impala ss rear shocks are both the same 21 and 3/4 inches so I have no ideal why these Intrax rear springs would not work????

They will work fine. Go pick up your car and your springs, and install them your self. It will take about half an hour, working slowly. All you have to do is remove the lower shock bolt and lower the rear to get the springs in/out.

I have had Intrax on my SS since I got it, and have never had a problem. They are a great street/track spring.

Thanks Buddy,
Should I tie the rear intrax springs down to the lower spring seats or something with tie wraps ..Man this pissed me off

Can I do one side at a time with the rear intrax or do I have to support and do both sides at the same time?

I don't have tie wraps on mine. My springs have never fallen out driving, or with the car up in the air.

You can do one side at a time, just do one bolt and lower that side slowly and grab the spring. Put the isolators on the new spring, and properly index. Compress the suspension, and replace the shock bolt.

Good luck!
Jason.

Call your parts store back and tell them they're on crack. The rear shocks mount the same on the rear of just about every GM car and truck all the way back to the 1970's.

Jay's right... just put them in yourself... it only takes a few minutes.

Ive had intrax since I got the car. I hate the fact that they fall out whenever the car is jacked up. I dont know what the hell these other people do but if you jack the car up to a point where the rear wheels come off the ground the springs will fall out unless they are tight in the spring pocket. I can guarantee that they arent touching the top of the frame.

Im also getting sick of the "squat" look of the rear springs, Im going with a machined 2" lift for the bottom rear spring pockets.

Why not just swap the springs out with taller ones rather than use lowering springs with a lift?

Because....1) Im cheap 2) I want to use the springs that I paid for 3) I really like the springs ride qualities and 4) It a helluva lot easier just buying boosters.

I see. I've personally never had a problem with mine falling out when the cars driving or with it lifted up in the air so i'm not sure whats going on with those springs you have. I assume the spring insulators are long gone then, right? Just curious but how much are the lifts running ya?

Get some Airlift bags for that.

My Intrax rears don't fall out when the car is jacked up but it might be because the Bilsteins have less max travel than stocks. The ST rears I had did fall out when jacked up and these are taller than those

Easy install man
