My passenger-side rear window is broken, once again.

It was replaced when I got my car something like 3 years ago. The driver's side cheapo plastic piece still has not broken.

I was looking at the SuperStore for their replacement kit, which uses better-quality parts (right?), but I can't find it. Anyone see it where I'm not looking? Also, is it hard to do this at home? I watched the guy do it.. he got the door panel off somehow, and had to struggle with the rivet to get the piece out. Looked like a mess.

Thanks

Read your Impala SScene magazine : I did a write-up (VERY detailed, including part numbers) on this exact fix in the Jan 2001 (inaugural) issue.

Summary is the parts are about $5/door (or less), you have to remove the panel, you DON'T have to drill out a rivet, and it'll take you 1-2 hours per door (the first time, much quicker once you've done a few).

Hey Ed, thanks for reminding me! I just went and re-read it, and not only was your writeup as good as you said
but I sat and read the whole magazine again. My membership will be paid ASAP.

Thanks again, and keep up the great work!

The factory sliders are crap and they break in the center. They can be replaced with a round roller which is part #9666748. They are discontinued from GM but you can still get the dorman one on Ebay.

Mike--Hamilton Chevy
You can get them from Rock Auto for about half the price on ebay.
