I'm hooking up an alarm/remote start. It's a Alpha Guard AG-95s Alarm/start. I have it hooked up, and the remote start works, but it starts then stops, and does this 4 times in a row, than quits.

There is one wire I haven't hooked up, because I'm not sure where to put it. It's described to hook this wire up to the "oil indicator/high tension wire" It says it should blink on the dash when the car is started...but not sure which one I should hook it up too...I doubt I hook it up to my oil dummy light.....ANY HELP?? Thanks

if you used tach wire it must be programmed/learned.
i've been doing this 25 years. barrel into install then read manual.
it becomes very clear then.

I did not hook up a tach wire at all....??
Is it a must for remote starts?

Would this oil indicator/high tension wire be hooked up to my tach wirethen? The manual says this wire must be hooked up for the remote start to work.

The wire comes from the side on the brain box, its not apart of the wiring harnesses that clip on....if that clears up which wire it is??

ALPHAGUARDS AG-95S

Installation Guide (Diagram on Page 14)

There are 7 sockets on the side of the module.

STARTER

The 6-pins harass on the right of the module connects to the starter (igniter). Particular

wire identification is as below:

Black -> Ground

Red -> Ignition power

Yellow -> “Start” position

Brown -> “ON” position

There are two brown wires. The number of brown wires used

depends on the number of wires already connected to the “ON”

position. If there is only one then one brown wire is used. In that

case, leave the other brown wire alone.

Blue -> “ACC” position (ACC = air condition)

Cut off -> Engine cut-off relay

OUTPUT DEVICES & CENTRAL LOCK

The 10-pins harass next to the starter harass connects to output devices and central lock

system. Particular wire identification is as follow:

Pink -> Siren

Blue Black -> Trunk release, (-) 100mA

Brown x 2 -> Direction lamp (L & R)

The following 6-pins connect to the central lock module (sold separately). There are 4

different connection types (see Page 16). Particular wire identification is as below:

Orange -> Central lock module

White -> Unlock^

Yellow -> Negative

Orange Black -> Central lock module

White Black -> Lock^

Yellow Black -> Connect to Yellow for close circuit

The yellow black is connected to the yellow, and then yellow

connected to the common line. This way the circuit is "closed";

otherwise the connection won't work.

^ White and White Black are exchangeable if needed.

Note: Common line = negative polarity, NOT ground

Tips: The 1st diagram and 5th diagram suits most cases (based on the fact that most

vehicles use negative polarity for power locking).

HARDWARE SETTING

One jumper next to the central lock harass configure automatic arming mode (see Page 9).

INPUT DEVICES

The 4-pins harass next to the jumper connects to input devices. Particular wire

identification is as below:

Blue -> Door pin switch (-)

Depending on the polarity used for power locking, use only (-) or

(+) to connect to the door pin switch***.

Blue White -> Door pin switch (+)

*** Please refer to Blue

Orange -> Handbrake light

This wire must be connected to activate the remote start

function. The system monitors if the handbrake is applied. If the

handbrake is not applied the system will reject all remote start

requests.

White -> ACC on

SHOCK SENSOR

The 3-pins harass next to the input devices harass connects to the shock sensor.

*ULTRASONIC SENSOR*

The 3-pins harass can be used for connecting to the ultrasonic sensor (sold separately).

LED

The 2-pins harass next to the shock sensor harass connects to LED light.

ANTENNA

The 1-pin harass next to the LED harass connects to antenna.

FROM MAIN MODULE

One yellow wire from the main module connects to oil light / tension coil.

Yellow -> Oil indicator light/High tension wire

This wire must be connected to activate the remote start

function. There are two ways to connect this wire. It can be

connected to (1) the oil indicator light* or (2) the high tension

wire** (see Page 14).

* The oil indicator light should be on the dashboard. It usually

blinks when starting up the vehicle.

** The high tension wire method is recommended only for older

vehicle.

I hope this helps. I have most everything hooked up. The orange wire that says to go to the handbrake, I have hooked up to my brake light switch. Is this correct. In my instructions on the diagram it says to have it hook up to brake pedal. thanks for your help!

the orange hand brake wire needs to go on the park brake. there will only be one wire at the top of park brake. it states it will ignore all remote start commands if not connected.

Ok I will try switching that wire over to the parking brake....I just assumed that was for manual cars that the parking brake would need to be applied.

What about this wire though????? I do not have it hooked up anywhere???

I've been searching on forums..and it SEEMS the "high tension wire" should be the tach wire. I will mess around with this during my lunch break with this wire, and the handbrake to see what happens.............

Okay here's what I tried....the parking brake made no difference. I tried it with it applied, and un-applied.

I hooked up the yellow wire to the tach. And when I did that when I hit the button to start it....it cranked the car over...but didn't start it. It only did this once, then my lcd remote showed that the engine was running....when it wasn't.

Then I tried again with it un-hooked, and it would start it like it did before.....but it turns off arter 2 seconds of running......

I used the white/black wire on the coil for my tach wire.........

I messed around a lil more:

with the wire hooked up to the tach wire, the car won't start if I try to start it with the key! as soon as I unhook it it will start up.

Yes I made sure the starter kill was not activated.....the car cranked, but would not fire.

What is a pass-key? Is that the vats system...or the key with a chip in it? If it is then NO it does not have that....it's just a 9C1.

you can try grounding the orange wire. it would bypass the park switch.

Ya I figured I'd try to ground it, cuz that's how I have my Indash set-up. I also re-read the manual, and it says the parking brake needs to be applied with auto or manual trans.....so I'll ground it out.

I noticed I hooked up the tach to the wrong spot...I hooked it up to the white/black wire...looks like it should have been the red/black wire. I hope that fixes it. I will try after work.

that red/black is low resolution for ecm. i would not connect to it.

Well I hooked up the wire to the PCM tach position....tried it. It fired up, it ran for like 15-20 seconds...then stopped!
I tried it again...and then it started and stopped four times like it did before.

So I gave up! I ripped all the remote start relays out...and finished hooking up the alarm. Problem solved...HA
