Hey Guys,

My Camaro has a thirteen-year-old Chapman alarm and I would like to remove it. I never liked it, and I fear a malfunction. While working on the car this weekend, I noticed the brain box zip tied to the main harness. It has six spade connectors and a multi-pin plug. Can I safely disconnect it? There is also a box mounted near the steering column that must be a reciever of sorts. There are no wires attached. Shock sensor?

Any help appreciated as always.

Look for a ground wire. Clip that bidge, then go at it by tracin the hot leads from where they come.

Be careful about cutting things. It may have a starter kill that may not allow the starter to work once removed. You may have to wire around it.

My suggestion, cut 1 wire at a time and try to start the car after each. If all goes well for you it will crank right up each time. Which also means a terrible alarm and install.

good point mdnss, i didnt even think about starter kill cause I didnt bother doing it. my bad.

from my understanding, to install starter kill you simply cut the starter signal wire and splice in the alarm system solenoid wires.

try setting off the alarm and see if its got kill. and on second thought there could be a fuel pump kill too.

but then again, if you had the alarm naual you could see which wires were used for kill and trace em.
