Were is a good place to put a satelite antenna on my 96 RMW? XM said to put it on rear roof but that doesnt leave the room that it needs 3in.steel all way around cwm3

I brought it up under the dash. The small magnetic antenna. I put it inside the defrost vent. Never had a problem with reception.

I had the dash out at the time, so I'm not sure how difficult it would be to locate there otherwise.

On 96 RWM, I have magnetic antenna within the roof rack area, about four inches to the rear of the skylight. Perfect reception. Use the same place (within the roof rack) on the 89 Caprice, 86 Caprice and 93 Dodge Caravan. As already posted, hide and protect the tiny antenna cable inside the weatherstrips.

And here there is no terrestrial network, so only XM reception is from satellite.

Generally 70 - 80% signal strength (sat) and 0% signal strength (terr).

If you live in a more urbanized area than the arctic circle (like me), you may be able to get away with the antenna being inside the car where it can still receive the terrestrial network signal.
