Thought I would consolidate all the info I found about the seats & consoles that I used during my adventures. Feel free to add anything relevant to it, and we can get the moderator to "stickie" this. I advise you read them all... some people have 6-way, some 12-way, some are putting these into Impala SS, some to 9C1, some to caprices, some to wagons. Each have different set-ups for power and control locations, or no existing power at all. There is good information for pretty much every situation. Good luck, as there are probably 100+ more that are not as descriptive, but a IMPALA SS FORUM search may not be an option due to the lost posts.

NOT ALL LINKS WORK ALL OF THE TIME, SOME OUTSIDE SITES TEND TO BE DOWN A LOT!...?

The year of Bonneville seat match-up to the B-Body is '92 through '99, however, seats from a '93 to '95 Bonneville will be the exact same shade of gray (medium) as your SS. In 1996 and subsequent years, the medium gray option was replaced by another gray (some shade of charcoal). Colors and wiring designs changed slightly throughout the production years, so be sure to get the matching wiring harness from the wreckers. If you pull them yourself, remove seats first (it is good to have a battery to power up the controller or motor to raise the seats!), then the controller, then the wiring and air pump hose harness. Cut up the carpet to get the harness out, and get as much of the black ground and orange power wires (to drivers foot well) as possible.

Bonneville seat removal:
Take a 13mm RATCHET wrench to get under the seats (if you can't power them up with a portable battery pack), torx 45/47/50 for seat & seat belt mounts, misc. screw drivers, needlenose and side cutter pliers. First place to start is to lift the carpet in the Bonneville around the drivers side door/footwell area to identify the seat wiring harness. You want to cut this out to allow access to the orange and black wires. These will allow you to power up (portable battery pack!) the seats to raise / lower / slide the seats to allow for easier removal. Get the console seat controller without busting it up!, the complete wiring and pneumatic harness left in the loom (pull free as much of the orange and ground wires as you can or trace it back to the drivers foot well). Keep the feet covers too. Rear seat bottom removal by simply pushing briskly on the seat front towards the rear of the car, then lift up. The bottom is held in with a rod / 'C' slot system. The uppers require the removal of the seat belts from the lower anchors, then slide it up and out. Rears are pretty easy.

Re-skinning:
Quite often, Driver's side seat is worn on the side bolster, a donor passenger seat can be a good idea for less than $30.00

Thanks for taking the time to post all the info.
Do you happen to know what different colors were available in the Bonneville? Are the seats heated? I just picked up another '96 Caprice this time with 38K miles, it has the Tan interior and I want to do the seat conversion.
Thanks again

Colors? I don't know for sure, but I've seen only tan, medium gray, charcoal gray, and possibly black in the leather. In cloth I think they made gray, deep blue, and tan.

If you're looking for tan, you should be in luck! Exact shade I'm not sure. If you really need the info, go to the Bonnevilleforum.com site and ask. They're pretty good guys, and should have a color code for it. From my recollection, the Bonny tan and our BBody tan is very close.

The Bonny seats didn't come heated, but others have added heat elements to them. Ask in the Interior section (or Electrical Section, but not both) under a specific new thread.

Good luck, and make sure to take lots of picks and post up your progress!

Short Overhead Console

I need some help with my short style overhead console. I am not sure how to secure it to the roof. My car is a 9C1 and has a ticket light. The console has a visible mount towards the front of the car but the back simply has 2 clips that mount it to the headliner on the Bravada I got it from. Any help is appreciated.

You got me there...

I would post a specific thread to ask for help. I know others have done it, so help should be available. You didn't happen to get a pic of the Bravada liner after you took it out? I took one of the Blazer as I knew it would help me later.

I still haven't put mine in yet. I'm working on installing a power rear vent window switch set into it. Later this year I guess...

Does anyone know what options there are for lightweight, manual seats for our cars. I have the leather, power bonnies now, wanting to loose the weight of all the power stuff and heavy bonnies. Thanks

For the bonnevilles they had the following colors in leather:

Light (almost white) grey
Medium Grey
Charcoal (black)
Tan
Neutral
Camel
Blue
Green

In Cloth, they had:
Light (almost white) grey
Medium Grey
Charcoal (black)
Tan
Blue
Green
Maroon (red)

Now, The Light grey was 1992 only, and only with two tone interior.
The Blue and Green Leather was only 96, possibly 97 too.
For tan, 92-95 had one shade (tan), 96 to 99 had neutral, and 98-99 could have had Camel, which was darker than the others. Neutral was lighter than the tan as well.

Also, for the wiring within the seats. There was a change in the connectors at some point, so if you don't get a cross body harness from the same car, or same year, just be aware of this. If I remember, when I swapped my seats in my 93 bonneville for a set from a 97 (I think) one of the connectors changed from male to female.

Hope this helps. I have been a member of BonnevilleForum (Now GMForums, Formerly BonnevilleClub) since it began in 02, and am a member of BonnevillePro and PontiacBonnevilleClub as well. I've owned three, and worked on or parted many others.

You should be able to get basic non-power bonneville buckets, I know you can get a manual passenger seat, and if you can't find a manual driver's seat, you could always take the seat itself off the frame and find a non-power frame for it. Other than that, I am not sure what's available. With the Bonneville seats, aside from the 12 ways, all the heavy power stuff is in the seat tracks.

Looking at all the console/floorshift install threads has given me a headache. Lots of contradicting info and confusion, lol.

I believe I have gathered all the parts I need and will be making a proper how to thread soon.
