I just picked up some of the Olds Aurora seats myself, and working on getting them in and mounted.

So far I've got brackets built, wiring installed, and the leather has been prepped for black dye. I'll start a thread soon with all of the details.

One thing to watch out for, is that the front edge of the Aurora buckets don't bolt down. They have a little claw that slides into the floor. I had to remove that mount, and then fab up new brackets for the front as well.

PM me if you've got any questions, as I probably won't be scanning this thread regularly.

Is it possible to remove the back of the seat from the bottom part of the seat? I was looking around and I noticed a bolt but none of my tools fit it so I'm going to stop by Autozone or someplace and pick one up to fit it right. My driver frame broke and I was just going to swap it for the passenger one while I find a place to weld it back together.

After trying to get the rear part of the seat off I sort of fixed it. The two bolts came out but the back was attached to another piece that went farther into the bottom of the seat. When I put the bolts back in I aligned it properly and tightened it all the way and now the seat is straighter.

bonnie 12 way seats

Thought I would consolidate all the info I found about the seats & consoles that I used during my adventures. Feel free to add anything relevant to it, and we can get the moderator to "stickie" this. I advise you read them all... some people have 6-way, some 12-way, some are putting these into Impala SS, some to 9C1, some to caprices, some to wagons. Each have different set-ups for power and control locations, or no existing power at all. There is good information for pretty much every situation. Good luck, as there are probably 100+ more that are not as descriptive, but a IMPALA SS FORUM search may not be an option due to the lost posts.

NOT ALL LINKS WORK ALL OF THE TIME, SOME OUTSIDE SITES TEND TO BE DOWN A LOT!...?

The year of Bonneville seat match-up to the B-Body is '92 through '99, however, seats from a '93 to '95 Bonneville will be the exact same shade of gray (medium) as your SS. In 1996 and subsequent years, the medium gray option was replaced by another gray (some shade of charcoal). Colors and wiring designs changed slightly throughout the production years, so be sure to get the matching wiring harness from the wreckers. If you pull them yourself, remove seats first (it is good to have a battery to power up the controller or motor to raise the seats!), then the controller, then the wiring and air pump hose harness. Cut up the carpet to get the harness out, and get as much of the black ground and orange power wires (to drivers foot well) as possible.

Bonneville seat removal:
Take a 13mm RATCHET wrench to get under the seats (if you can't power them up with a portable battery pack), torx 45/47/50 for seat & seat belt mounts, misc. screw drivers, needlenose and side cutter pliers. First place to start is to lift the carpet in the Bonneville around the drivers side door/footwell area to identify the seat wiring harness. You want to cut this out to allow access to the orange and black wires. These will allow you to power up (portable battery pack!) the seats to raise / lower / slide the seats to allow for easier removal. Get the console seat controller without busting it up!, the complete wiring and pneumatic harness left in the loom (pull free as much of the orange and ground wires as you can or trace it back to the drivers foot well). Keep the feet covers too. Rear seat bottom removal by simply pushing briskly on the seat front towards the rear of the car, then lift up. The bottom is held in with a rod / 'C' slot system. The uppers require the removal of the seat belts from the lower anchors, then slide it up and out. Rears are pretty easy.

Re-skinning:
Quite often, Driver's side seat is worn on the side bolster, a donor passenger seat can be a good idea for less than $30.00

Radford.edu link for the overhead console is dead. I never looked at it before tho.

I did find this tonight. It's a mess tho. Looks like it was cut and pasted from elsewhere. Good write up tho.

http://m.chevroletforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=18550&styleid=11

I've copied it all to my phone and am looking to clean it up a bit.

I'll try and do a write up once I buy a new overhead console.

Going to do the 12 way swap, need to see where you mounted you control panel to get some ideas. I have a stock SS console with a set of lightning rods that I installed and made a custom cover for them. So, your location may or may not work, just trying to get some ideas. POST PIC'S! Thanks.

I have purchased a set of Bonneville seats, they are the 12 way (AL7) style. But, I do not know what year they are from. Each seat has it's own power and ground source, can anyone tell me what model year(s) these seats came out of? Thanks.

I would put the controller under your console lid, to keep the clean symmetric look predator has already.

Sounds like the 12 ways I have in the garage, mine came from a 96/97.

I seen where another member did that as well, I like the idea of them being out of the way. I will have to wait until I get home to figure out the final mounting solution for sure. I have three ideas for now.

Know anyone looking for a radio? I may sell the one out of it.

Also, after talking to a dealership today, according to them the'98's have the dual power plugs as well. Take a look at yours to confirm this for informational purposes.

I was going to do that originally, but I can't due to the shifters, the rear cover extends up on the face near the concave area of the cover plate. If you look close, you can barely see the two mounting screws. I put them inside the console or in front of the cup holder.

After spending at least 1/2 hr trying to find the proper thread to post this in and finding that any thread dedicated to seat swaps, if there was one, would be in....91-96 Impala/B-body<Interior< then 295 pages of individual thread topics. I wasn't gonna sort through all THAT, so this is the one I'm pickin'.
When swapping the two front bucket seats in a '95 9C1 (I know you can),
am I swapping just the chairs or the chairs, sliders, seat frame and/or floor bracket ?
It's the whole shebang for the whole shebang, right ??

Well my problem is the driver's seat needs a serious reupholstering so I thought I'd bring the passenger seat over to the left side and wait to find a new passenger seat or maybe just put in a cot so I can really stretch out.

Ok any info on installing the Bonneville back seat bench? I tried sifting through all the threads but couldn't find anything on the rear bench or links were dead. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
