Dear friends

Yesterday at night a smoke smell began suddenly. I turned on internal lights and saw smoke from the driver side under instrument cluster. Turn off the car and all electrical things and ran to unplug battery.

With my hand lantern inspected as mucha as my 140kg let me to do but can't find any thing bad. I check fuses and found one of then litterally melt in its position. This moment I do not remember the number but it was a 20amp fuse. I use a tool to extract it and replace for a new one from the toolbox but turn hot inmediatly. I retired it, reconnect the batt and drove home. I lost my speedometer but temp and gas indicators work.

I hope in few days unmount all the cluster and examine on detail cables and modules.

I will take time to clean all and inspect all. unmount it is a nightmare. Our weather and the sun of the last 23 years make it tasty and easy to broken.

Is there anything you consideer I must check using this oportunity?
My list include:
Vacuum hose of A/C system
Of course to find the fail cause
clean all
clean a/c ducts
check cable harness
find and eliminate some loose things that sound when the sound system is off
change the sound system (new speaker amplifier has input by blue tooth)
Adjust loosing screws using loctite to prevent it loose again...

Any suggestion will be apprecciate

Need to know which B-body we are working with here. As well as the year. The fuse number will be an even bigger help.

Murphy attack again

Dear colleagues
I had adquired mitchell diagrams many years ago but, now the actual operative sistems are unable to work wit this.... I need a new version

By now . the original problem blown fuse 13 of my caprice 1992. I take down all instrument cluster. I mean ALL it. What a mes of cables!!!!!

I found a couple of burned cables

One of them from F13 and 20cms after cable become normal. I need to replace all it but still I can´t found the short circuit cause.

Found another cable burned from the brake pedal switch. in one connector a pink/blk cable and other look purple look full burned. I follwed PNK/BLK to a distributor junction but still don't know where the other cable go. Brake light works so I think it connector related to cluth block ...

I need electrical diagrams!!!!! or a kilogram of headache pills

HELP!

All solved

Diagrams open again after many hours at new pc understanding the new know how of win 10

The problem was the fuse itself. It belong to a new boxs of uses I adquired and just melt the plastic creating bad contact and temperature rise in the contact and near cable.
