Will f-body front bar and stock rear bar work. Anything bad going to happen?

I think your rearend will have a tendency to kick out very easily, which I think is oversteer.

Mike, I think you mean, understeer. Oversteer is when you are "plowing" through the turn.

I don't know what the result of the front F-body sway bar and rear stock set up be, but wouldn't putting a beefier rear sway bar make the car easier to understeer (powerslide)instead of beefier front swaybar? I could be wrong though...

Actually...understeer is the front end plowing, oversteer is when the back end wants to say hello to the front end ;)
That said, the F-Body front bar will cause an under steer condition with the stock rear bar, which for all intents is much better for the driver than oversteer in most instances( say you put in a mondo H/A or H/O rear bar), its a lot easier to control understeer (I'm sure Ed will chime in here for more stats !!)
I would wait till you could upgrade both bars at the same time. If you are looking for a moderatly priced handling upgrade, try installing the 9C1 body bushing package, and do the brake proportioning valve mod. Both are inexpensive, and will improve the handling of the car. JMH $.02 worth !!!

If it were me, I would not run the f-body bar with the stock rear bar. How do I know? Because I ran the f-body front bar with the stock rear bar while my HA bar was on order. It handles fine if you baby it.

I was getting ready to make a left turn one day and the stop light turned yellow, so I floored it (isn't that what yellow means?). Going through the turn my car plowed REAL BAD. By real bad, I mean that I turned the wheel and the car didn't turn.

So, for safety sake, IMHO would not run the f-body front bar with the stock rear bar.

Increasing the size of the front bar while leaving the rear bar the same will create more understeer/push. This in and of itself is not really dangerous. It is far more dangerous if a car oversteers that's why most auto's are designed with built in understeer from the factory. With our cars it is easy to overcome the understeer with judicial application of the "go" pedal, throttle induced oversteer. Take it from somebody who knows. If you don't believe me ask Ed Runnion, I auto x with him on a regular basis and he'll tell you that I know what i'm talking about. I've been running the F-body front for two years and have not gotten into trouble. I've even auto x'd this way for two years on this setup (F Stock) and have come out very well. The key is you must know the limitations of your vehicle.
By the way, I am not going to stay with this setup. I'll add my HA bar (sitting in the closet for 2 years) after the end of the auto x season. No need to throw away my points and change classes half way through the season since I'm in 4th place right now.

Hi Don,

You can "balance" the car with throttle induced oversteer. But, what if you are under hard braking and hard turning simultaneously? Don't you get an unmanageable amount of understeer? Are you running stock springs?

My suspension is completely stock except for the F-body front bar. F Stock does not allow any suspension mods other than a front sway bar change and shock changes.

Like I said earlier, you must know the limitations of your vehicle. Your tires only have 100% adhesion. If you are braking and turning you must figure on dividing than 100% lomgitudinally and laterally at the same time. If you exceed that magical 100%, something has to give and thus your tire will slide in the direction with the most force being applied. Granted when you brake you can raise the adhesive properties by more weight being put/transferred to the front tires. In other words, you need to get most of your braking done prior to turning or you will understeer/push.

If you're looking at it from a safety stand point, I would prefer to hit smething head on instead of getting hit on the side. You have more protecting material.

Thanks again guys. With what i've read here I think i'll put the bar on next week and give it a try, the most i'll have to do is take it back off. I already have the 9C1 body bushings and plan on doing the brake proportioning valve when the sway bar goes on.
