Do we have to sign in every day? I get a "you are not signed in screen" every day. If I am on from 11 PM till after midnight, and try to send a message, I have gotten the screen for the last 3 days.

I have tried tried clearing and reseting cookies a million ways and in a million different orders and it's still a no-go.

Still no luck here either. I've tried everything I can think of. I'm not a computer genius, but I know my way around them pretty well. So I'm not sure what else I'm missing...
I may have it fixed. It kept me logged on for a few minutes. I will monitor it for the days and see.

another thought, check any firewalls/antivirus/antispam programs for possible cookie affecting settings.

Advantage to Lifetime Membership...staying logged out?

Having what appears to be the requisite issue of maintaining login... All upgrading to the premium Lifetime Membership package has done so far is eliminate the ads and allow me to insert photos easily. That is nice but if the little free O-Gauge Railroading forum, where I am also a member (and have to use HTML code...ARGH!), can maintain my login over time, until I choose to log off, why can this most excellent forum not do the same?

- what browser your using: Internet Explorer
- what internet provider: Comcast
- what security software: McAfee Total Protection

May we seriously consider applying some IT energy to correcting this issue for all members?

Since I do not "live" on the forum, perhaps this has been answered but what happened to re-establishing the "lost" archives from the famous Crash of '09. At least let us create a database of reference for old and new members. I am certain there are those of us out here who would tackle a section to create separate bodies of work or work as teams. At least that's my thought on it.

Looking forward to the day I stay logged on.

May I also add that downloading the spell check add-on is well worth it for us typing challenged types!:D

Logged me out again...

while in the midst of composing a rather lengthy reply to a member's PM.

Guess it is best to compose in Word and then cut and paste, eh?

This is getting silly. Does this post make me sound unhappy?

Have you cleared your cookies
Also remember to hit "remember me" when logging in. or you will be logged out after an hour.

This has happened to be me also. Extremely unhappy. Doing a long post - searching for a link or a photo - consulting the FSM or my car visually, etc. Then hit submit.......they ask to sign in again.....and then ALL IS LOST.

Until this is corrected, I will make a short post and then add more info by editing.

Here's the kicker.......In normal browsing and even after turning on my computer each day and then going to this forum later, I now never have to sign in.

UNLESS: I make a post. Then I have to sign in again EVERY TIME after making a post. Go figure.
Still logging me off...

Cookies cleared, site on approved web sites for security in internet options. I always hit "remember me". Seems it only remembers to log me off...Being logged off today in a matter of minutes for no apparent reason. My OS is Win 7 Professional for what it is worth...

Maybe it will straighten out or I will chalk the $40.00 up to experience. Bad experience that is. This is like a short trip to Work Around City.

I sympathize with you guys. I lost a few lengthy posts too. Oof. It got to the point I was highlighting my posts and clicking COPY before I hit submit so I didn't lose my yards of BS.

Hey guys, I'm no internet genius, but the advice from Helena worked for me. I deleted all the internet cookies and it worked like a charm. I got a little worried for a few minutes since it took a loooooooooooong time while it was deleting the cookies.

Good luck, maybe anyone can offer up some advice on why this isn't working for everyone?
We have tried it on many different computers and different browsers and different security systems. we are at a stand still here. if we can't recreate the problem we can't fix the problem. if you have cookies enabled and you have cleared them properly then there shouldn't be a problem.

you say it only happens when you go to type out a long post?

Okay, I may have figured it out. I reset my clock settings and it seems to have kept me logged in all day, and I can access the cabaret again :)

For those still having problems, click on your clock in the bottom corner. Then under the Internet Time tab, update it from the microsoft time server and click okay. See if that fixes it...

ok,i tried that also.we will see what happens.cwm4
If the owners of this site can't fix the problem they've obviously created, then try using a different browser. I intermittently have this problem with IE 8, but I've never once had it on the MacBook using Safari.

OK, I'll go right out and buy a new Apple at twice the price of my HP just so I can use this forum.
