Did you all read this?

(FYI when I started this thread it was in MISK, this sub-forum didn't exist, and the other thread was locked)

Hello Members!

Since we created this website back in 2000, it has grown by leaps and bounds – and so has the amount of maintenance that is required to keep things running smoothly. As many of you are well aware, over the past year or so, I have not been able to devote as much time and attention as I used to towards system maintenance. In order to help return the site to a more efficient level, I have chosen to sell the Forum to a company called AutoGuide, which operates hundreds of automotive forums – they will take over the hosting and maintenance of the website. Because of all of the problems we were experiencing with my previous hosting company, the website has already been copied over to AutoGuide’s servers – this should help keep the website running smoothly.

Although AutoGuide is taking over the operational aspects of the website and you may see some changes appear as a result, the forum itself should not be greatly affected. I will still be involved with the website as much as time permits, and the existing moderator staff will still maintain their rights and roles in the forum. At some point in the near future, additional staff will be brought on board to provide extra assistance to the community. The vast majority of the forum’s existing rules and regulations will stay in place – the last thing we want to do is negatively impact your experience on this website. So please buckle up and have fun while we attempt to make this website even better!

IMO, the adds are not too "busy" yet. I can handle them on the top and bottom of the pages. What I HATE is when adds are sandwiched between posts.

It really has not slowed down my browser....YET.

What I also hate and REALLY SLOWS down my load time more than any add is the damn animated GIF sig's.

ADMIN can we block/not allow animated GIF's unless the user has paid for forum usage?? Add it in with one of your price tables.
Just turn off sigs and avatars in your preferences. There are also options out there to deal with the ads, but I don't know what they are ;)

Thats just it. I know I can shut off sigs I just dont want to because some people actually have cars in their sigs I like to look at and get ideas from. i deal with it and dont complain. But if the ADMIN can make it that you have to PAY to have an animated GIF sig that would be even better.

Another thing that I think is retarted IMO is the people that feel the need to list every car they have owned that have been "crashed" "stolen" "sold", who gives a crap!!

Agin, this is just my opinion

LOL, I so agree. -Josh
I only use my sig once per page. As I go to hit submit reply I turn it off if it's a long thread and I know I've posted a lot in it. At least that's the goal.

It's considerate, no?

And yeah, I only have my B-Bodies in my sig. No one really cares about my other junk nor do I care about yours.

I try once per thread. I don't always think about it, since I have sigs turned off.

Maybe Admin could think about the sig on the post as an "opt in" instead of an opt out?

Jason.

no sig ;)

Learn something new every day. This is really the only forum I visit and try to be a part of. Guess I'll have to look into that next time I post. Nevermind Du'h a simple click of the box
1 time i did a hundred jumpropes :)
if we limit .gifs, we also limit the bouncing hooters. that doesn't sit well with me one bit :-/

also,

U - G - L - Y , you ain't got no alibi

new home page is ugly. although maybe it just takes some getting used to

The rest of the forum still looks pretty good though, so I'm crossing my fingers that it stays that way. I agree that the sandwiched between posts ads that I've seen on other forums are annoying as all hell.

also happy to see that *** is still a blocked word. I hope it stays "dat" way

Welcome to ImpalassForum.com - a website dedicated to the Chevrolet Impala Forum. We have many features on this website to make your experience here more enjoyable. The first step would be to REGISTER for free so you can take advantage of all the features we have to offer.
Someone may want to correct this. Also you might want to specify this site caters mainly to 91-96 B-bodies, otherwise we may get a bunch of clueless people with FWD Wimpalas joining....It'll be total anarchy!

Edit: Also, the ISSCA link on the homepage sidebar takes you to a rival forum, unless the same company owns that one too lol
LOOK I have made it more personal :)

And my dog's name is Guinness! and my cat is Lincoln and my other cat is toast :)
Pics of the cats please!
I leave for a few weeks, and we've been taken over by Canadians....LOL....
I wouldn't sweat things. There are other options out there, for those who want it. HACK did what he had to do, in the best interest of the forum AND putting a little $$$ in his pocket. I welcome any additions, can put up with any advertising, and look forward to the future of this site.

I SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO wanted to say something about that homepage but I figured I'd let someone with seniority say something first.

^^ same here they just ruined it and im getting loading problems gotta keep refreshing the page:mad: never thought i would see the day a worthless add would be on this site :( lets just hope the best. MH
no topless photos
sorry

i get asked that a lot its ok

Yea, you don't want to post those here... Autoguide would then have the rights to them :)
I found this link because I wondered why I was loading so much on each page. Link after link shows on the task bar. I guess i know now.

Do they think people from this forum would ever click on an add that sold some kind of noodle food or 99 cent shipping for some sport supply? Oh well, I probably won't log on as often.

Late to the party but...

What I always liked about this forum was that it was started by a group of enthusiasts, which in itself proved there was a strong dedicated following for the 94-96 Impala SS and 90s B-body platform. Especially 10 years ago when the net was younger and automotive forums were still few and far between. Being enthusiast owned and operated intrusive ads were minimal, and anything that was advertised was directly related to our cars and therefore of use or interest to us as owners of these vehicles.

Since the changeover there's just the most random crap advertising things like small FWD econoboxes, ladies handbags and other things that are irrelevant to 99% of us here. If there's going to have to be so many intrusive ads, why not at least do a bit more research on the market demographic of this forum and at least try to provide something useful. That actually might result in people clicking the ads and buying stuff. Better than blindly spamming us with the same generic ads that appear on every other forum. Whoever posted earlier and used the term "McDonaldsification" was spot on.

Credit to the founders of the forum for creating a platform for all of us to share knowledge, experiences and info on these cars. And for maintaining it for 10 years. It's been a great help and incredibly useful resource over the years. I can understand the motivation / reasons to sell. But with the number of active users here, I wonder if it would have been possible to take up a collection and keep the forum enthusiast owned and funded? Might have been more healthy and beneficial to the Impala SS community as a whole. Now we have an indifferent corporation profiting from all of our user generated content. Of course they want us to keep it here. Without everyone's contributions and participation the value of this site would be zero.

I wonder what the advertising terms are going to be for some of the smaller operations & vendors who make very limited runs of custom items for our cars. I hope we don't see them crowded out or unable to compete.

Oh snap! Where did all the flashy adverts come from?

-Mike
WTF is 'I M [Heart] U', with a kiddie cartoon and "Meet New People"? Really? Rainbows and unicorns next? I realize these new owners are hunting for our collective demographic. I admit for me they're real warm with the Hyundai and CRUZE ads . But for everything else I call "COLD!!"

I see we could become the laughing stock of other adult forums, at least those that have not joined the collective yet.
