You know, ever car there has a story!
I noticed that the local yard just got a '96 Caprice two days ago, so i rushed over this morning.
The car was beat looking. I saw the carpet less floor and thought "9c1!"- I was right. I found green water hoses so I went to work removing all. The bottom radiator hose had a puncture so I tossed it. Another one had a cut to the pick layer- I kept it. I'll clean the area and fill it in with silicone. I also got a lower plastic trim piece.
The oil pan had a small gash in it, so that might have been the cause of death. The oem bilsteins were on it but I feared that they might be toast- the bushings under them were severely rotted out, suggesting that the shocks were original. The owner had some poly bushings for the sways.
There were four steel wheels on it, with well worm out snows on them. I was told that $33 would probably buy all four, might go back for that.
Although the interior was blue, the seats were grey- the owner put bonnie seats in it, they didn't look too bad in shape.
I thought of picking out the front bushings but that's it. It had a nice looking ac condenser that must have been replaced recently but it also looked smaller than stock, so I passed.
I don't remember if the Impala SS had the same coolers on the front, so I passed on that. Anything else worth picking off this poor 9c1?

You can pick almost everything off of it as its all good parts. However I get so many of these cars in the local yard, I don't bother. I could be chopping out floors and rust free lower qrs but its too much work! :D It all gets crushed, You cant save then all and at least 100 Caprices, Impalas, Road-masters, Fleetwoods Wagons have been through the yard in the last 2 years.

The green hoses are pure silicone and last forever unless they are cut.

Those wheels are a good deal as long as their not bent. They will most big GM cars with a 5 by 5 bolt pattern back to the early 60s and will clear aftermarket disc brake conversions.
