had a guy off the michigan impala forum install my pump from me three weeks ago and ever since the install I get no pressure release when I take my gas cap off and my fuel gauge is off by a lot...

I am on empty but the gauge is reading 3/4 of a tank...

if anyone might no what this could be please let me know thanks...

Vent hose not re-installed?

Sounds like the sending unit [what the fuel pump resides in] was bumped [very sensitive/fragile] and needs recalibrated or cleaned and/or maybe a loose wire? Really tough to say without looking at everything.

Was the in tank harness replaced?

I can tell you that when I did mine...the float arm came unclipped and my gauge reads just above the red...all the time. Only fix is to drop the tank ...which I'm not doing just for that. I fill it and go by the trip meter, fill-up any where from 200-250 miles, take's 15-17 gal. I've never had the pressure release at the cap, even when I fixed the vent hose back by the tank that was rotted thru....of course it could also be rotten somewhere up front.
