Ok,
So I wanted to sound proof or deaden the ss but after i read all the tech here and of course the difference in products all I could think of was wow that is gonna cost a fortune to do the whole car...Trunk, floor, roof, doors, everything..

approx measured out over 100 SQ. Ft.

Then the mind started to wander a bit and of course one of the articles I read said something about a Butyl material that is foil backed with adhesive on one side...Dynamat and a couple other brands if I recall..The memory is the first thing to go after 40.... I put it all together and went looking for a product that I used on a project that I thought was very similar.. Sure enough I started to price the dynamat first...They say this is the good stuff so I needed something comparable....dynamat cost is 259.95 for 36 sq ft. average cost is $7.22 a sq. ft.
multiply by 100 and wow 722.00 dollars
This is rediculous there is no way this should cost that amount.....Simple product with a fancy name and some pretty logo tooo charge us more.
So I found a foil backed Butyl product with adhesive on one side that comes in rolls 9" wide by 25 feet long and yes this stuff is sticky and tough as nails the type I purchased was POLYKEN 360-45 The 45 is how many mils thick oh and the cost was 25.00 dollars a roll thats $1.33 cents a square foot heres how it looks

I am very happy with the product and must say I purchased 5 rolls for 25 dollars a roll and each roll contains 18.75 Sq Ft = 93.75 total sq. ft. for 125.00 dollar investment...
Call your local roofing supply company and ask for POLYKEN foil backed butyl tape...
I got mine at ABC roofing supply....
You will need a small roller a sharp razor / utility knife and a clean surface to apply it to...Oh I reccomend you wear gloves...It's sharp

I got 60 sq ft of eDead from Elemental Designs for 50 bucks. And it came with a free dynamat roller.

e dead is rubberized asphalt, totally different matt, and not worth it.

Low Bag N, is this product all Butyl, or is it injected with asphalt, also do you have any pics of the thickness of it? Great post Btw, hopefully this stuff is all butyl, that would be sweet!

That whole review is worth readin!
Be careful of the roofing stuff. It may begin to smell like chemicals in heat and start to peel back. Also, keep in mind you arent only looking for sq feet, you are looking for mass.

I paid about 1.27 a sq foot through Raamaat using my resale license. Otherwise there is a GP where you can get it for about 1.58 sq ft if you order 3 rolls. Its also a tad thicker at .60 mil.
I'm going nuts on the doors, floor pan, trunk, and pillars. After that, I will be dropping 1/8" ensolite foam over it that I can grab free from work!

Hopefully I will have the new system all in and runnin within 2 weeks!

No doubt you put some of that roofing material in your car and your gonna regret it.

Anything asphalt and forget it...Not worth your time spent putting it on.

The POLYKEN is 100% Butyl rubber.
Just cause I bought it at a roofing supply yard just means it's a good product to seal sh!t up....

I guess I am going to just use damplifer pro, then cover it up with the sludge let that dry then put the foam mat stuff over that

FatMat is an excellent product too. I got 100 sq. ft. on ebay for $129 shipped. i used about 50 sq. ft. of that to do the innner and outer skins of all the doors real well. I did my trunk previously so i still have 50 sq. ft. left for the headliner, floor, behind all the pillars, etc.. i plan on getting another 100 sq. ft. of it to complete the car....very nice stuff and the whole car will be more than done for around $300 total

Call your local roofing supply company and ask for POLYKEN foil backed butyl tape...
