In the almost 8 years I've been on this forum, I received one, or maybe 2, spam PM. In the few days of the new ownership, I have already received 2 spam PM. None of my PC settings has changed. Draw your own conclusion.

For what it's worth, I was averaging a half dozen or so spam PM's per year BEFORE the ownership change.

None since ;)

I have never had any SPAM PMs and i just got 2 today....
Pm spam ditto. We've been sold out!!!!
No PM Spam yet. I'd be inclined to let a few pass, though I'd turn off the popup notification function immediately. But if it becomes truly Spamlike...
The solution for this is to make new members have a certain number of posts before they are allowed to PM. AM I correct in the assumption that all the spam messages came from new members with 0 posts? Right now, I think it's set up to have some sort of waiting period to be able post, but not to PM. So the spammers resort to PMs because they can't yet post on the forum. If you force them to post threads first, then they will likely be caught before they can send spam PMs. FWIW I've gotten a few spam PMs before the forum ownership changed. None so far after the change. But spam is nothing new to the forum.... It will always be around regardless of who owns it. If I get a spam message, I don't cry about it, I just delete it. It's as simple as that....

You can also report the spam message to an admin/mod directly from the message. No need to post a thread about it.

Bingo ;)

For what it's worth, other forums I've been on required anywhere from 10 to 50 posts BEFORE you could PM or post anything in the Classifieds section(s).
I know we've received them before either via PM or in a thread. I remember one in the Racing section not too long ago. Sometimes they get through, happens on other forums I'm on too. Unless this gets consistent, I'd say it's probably just coincidence
What? You dont like UGG boots? lol

and FWIW, you guys have ALWAYS gotten spam in your PM box.

The difference, is that once the mods were alerted, the user name removed, and the PM disappeared from your inbox before you ever got to see it.

You just so happened to see this one, thats all. I got the one today too, and I usually get one a month or so. sometimes more. But im on the forum all day and night on the computer, or my phone. So i get to the inbox fast.

Cant agree with that i was pm'n people and buying stuff before i ever posted so that would be a deff drawback

I was PMing people and buying stuff as soon as I joined. But it took a while before I accumulated a bunch of posts.
I hate spam!

I dont think that it should take 50 posts to post in the classified section. Mabe 5 or so because there would be a overwhelming amount of stupid posts to raise their post count. -Josh
Spam Pm

This is the FIRST one I've ever gotten. WTF is goin on?? How could a "BANNED" member send PMs ???
I think banned members have always been able to PM people. Back in the day, Creep PMed me a couple times after he got banned.

Most likely the spammer was banned AFTER sending the PM.

So by the time you opened it they were banned. I don't think it's now possible to send a PM if you are banned except to a moderator.

You should post your top "banned member" PMs someday. I suspect it would be some great reading. ;)

I thought there would be more but there are less than 30 - although I am pretty sure creep and all them were banned on the "old" forum and aren't showing up.
Hmm. Do they have to be banned currently to merit publication?

I can only see who's currently banned. It's one page.
