Spam Private Messages
In the almost 8 years I've been on this forum, I received one, or maybe 2, spam PM. In the few days of the new ownership, I have already received 2 spam PM. None of my PC settings has changed. Draw your own conclusion.

Same for Nick, he kept opening his mouth and now he's done. He also had a few screen names so those guys are IP blocked too.
I think banned members have always been able to PM people. Back in the day, Creep PMed me a couple times after he got banned.

No you cannot PM while banned but You can still read . Once you try to log on, the screen says you heve been banned. Sometimes a reason is given,and others not.
It also says the date when your ban will be lifted.
I always said the ban should only be from the section where the issue occurs. I have witnessed some heavy duty insults in the drivetrain section that would make the Misc look like playschool but no one was banned.

And I was very confused about why you were upset with me. If there has been some drama involving you and the forum, I have missed all of it. But I have been following your thread on the Longroof forum about your wagon dilemma. Makes me wonder what I would do if my favorite wagon came up for sale.
On the old UBB site, banned people could still PM. I remember someone starting a thread about banned people PMing, I came in with my Creep story and I believe it was Hack that finished it by saying banned people could PM. From what you and BK posted, that is not true anymore. I'm still waiting for HYWAY KOP to give us more details to see if they jive with what BK posted.No you cannot PM while banned but You can still read .

also yes the best way to avoid this is to create a sub section. what ill do is make it so new members can only PM the admin until they have posted a greeting in the newbie section. this should filter this a little more.

The solution for this is to make new members have a certain number of posts before they are allowed to PM. AM I correct in the assumption that all the spam messages came from new members with 0 posts? Right now, I think it's set up to have some sort of waiting period to be able post, but not to PM. So the spammers resort to PMs because they can't yet post on the forum. If you force them to post threads first, then they will likely be caught before they can send spam PMs. FWIW I've gotten a few spam PMs before the forum ownership changed. None so far after the change. But spam is nothing new to the forum.... It will always be around regardless of who owns it. If I get a spam message, I don't cry about it, I just delete it. It's as simple as that....
You can also report the spam message to an admin/mod directly from the message. No need to post a thread about it.
i have also asked my tech guys to install a button for the mods to use for easier quicker banning and clean up
speaking of messages, y are the same 100 messages still here. this forum has the lowest number of pms allows on all of the ones im on. with more ads comes more money comes more upgrades. i wanna see more space....i dont need it i just want the new owners to shell out some more dough lol
^^^^^Yep. Perfect. Plus, mayhaps 'force' newbs to fill in certain salient bits of info in their Profile. Just by the manner of what (and how) they submit would help immensely on how (or if) to reply to their posts/threads.....

BTW, Ima get rich if I can invent an app that at least capitalizes the first word of each sentence for thumbposters. Hell, I had a Blackberry 5 years ago that could even do that much.
