Do speakers need a break-in period? I mean after-market, not the stock ones that come with the vehicle. Just curious, thanks.

I'm not an expert but I have aftermarket audio systems in all of my vehicles. I've been doing that and progressing going back to when Rockford Fosgate came out with their monster amplifiers and separates made their introduction.

Generally speaking the answer is likely no. But there are some speaker short throw subs for example that do require a break in period. We just completed an install in my Crew Cab Silverado less than 2 weeks ago. The 13" JL Audio woofers require an ~ 25 hour 'break-in' period.

That being said its not unreasonable to treat your audio with care and moderation and less abuse especially after a new install.
