OK, the Caddy gets a rough idle sometimes, uually after driving for a bit, thought it just needed a tune-up, but today the ABS/TC lights came on in the dash, could this be a speed sensor going out?

I don't know if the two issues would be related. Techniically the ABS/Traction stuff have nothing to do with the engine. Did you do the tuneup yet Exhaust leaks are a pain. If you have a cracked manifold od manifold bolt, it might cause the stumble your feeling when the car is warm. A tune up If everything one the car is old old wouldn't hurt either...

Haven't had a chance to do a tune-up yet, but finally got a chance to run the codes, here is what came up

Stored code: 13

01: 23,25,122,123,125,143,144
04: 125,131,135

Dats a lot of codes (if i did it right LOL) So, how bad off is she?

You can pick them out yourself for general interest, but since you have so many history codes I would clear them all and see what accumulates fresh. Only codes with a 1 in front are archive. You can leave the system on and watch codes throw while driving.

You posted the first code before 01:, so I'm assuminng you were in 00: Mode. 13 indicates an O2 issue. The system takes a bit getting used to, - if everything you post for 01: was really in 00: then you indeed have some things to check out there.

The FSM gives a little better description of codes than this list, so I added the specific wheel for your ABS sensors. It appears there's been issues with several of them in the past. HTH


Your Cadillac is equipped with a very good on-board diagnostic system capable of reading out the stored trouble codes.

To enter diagnotic mode:

* With the ignition in the "RUN" position (engine does not necessarily need to be running, but it will work either way).
* Push (and hold) "OFF" and "WARMER" simultaneously on the Electronic Climate Control (ECC) until all telltales lights illuminate (segment check).
* Release the "OFF" and "WARMER" buttons.
* System is now in diagnostic mode. "00" (zero-zero) should now be displayed. This is the pointer.
* Pressing "OUTSIDE TEMP" will allow you to display the corresponding code for the pointer.
* Use the "FAN SPEED" override switch (UP/DOWN) to increment or decrement the pointer number.
* Pressing "AUTO" or turning the ignition switch "OFF" exits diagnotic mode.

Pointers 00-04 contain the stored trouble codes.

* "00" = Powertrain Control Module (PCM) codes
* "01" = Central Control Module (CCM) codes
* "02" = Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) codes
* "03" = Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) codes
* "04" = Anti-lock Brake/Traction Control System (ABS/TC) Codes

Codes prefixed by a "1" are history codes.

A code can be cleared by pressing the "OFF" button while that particular code is being displayed.

OK, I am pretty sure the 13 was under 00, if so is that the only one I really need to worry about? Thothers were definatly under 01/04. TIA
