There's SO many options for these cars that almost any combination is possible.

The only unusual thing I see is a Certified Speedometer in a non-9C1 car. Other than that it looks pretty common.

You don't see a ton of G80 cars that are civilian 305s, either. Pretty uncommon.

You don't see them every day, but what's weird about it having a 700R4? That should be the ONLY thing it would have.

Unfortunately, I don't think anything on it makes it any more valuable than any others without the options. Here's what I look at, pretty much in order:
Model year
Engine
Miles
Condition

The rest of it may be a small perk to owning the car, but it's still a '91 with a 305 in my book.

It's an LTZ.

It has 7B3, B4U, Z09, GU5, G80, and U11. It also has V-rated tires (QQG, also see door jamb sticker). LTZs were pretty rare as compared to standard Caprices.

I believe he's right. That may make things a little better, but it's not the Holy Grail or anything.

When someone buys (or rather bought) an Impala SS, the same exact thing occurs.... the car will be listed as a Caprice.

Because.... the Impala SS is juts a trim package applied to a Caprice. Technically, so is the 9C1 police package. And ditto for the LTZ. They're all trim packages that involve a bit more than just cosmetic trim features.

In your case, the use of the U11 certified cluster is the most key tell-tale. That cluster wasn't an option your could just order, and it's not just an easy thing for a dealer to install (it's not plug-n-play, I know because I've done 1.5 such swaps). The cluster was ordered with the car, that's why it's listed on the SPID.

To get the U11 you had to either get a 9C1 package (which would then automatically include the U11 cluster), or you had to order an LTZ Caprice (which again would automatically get you the U11 cluster).

What you need to get is pixs and documents on the 1991 Caprice (like a factory brochure), as well as the road tests done on the car. The 1991 Caprice LTZ was Motor Trend's Car of the Year so that might have enough pictures. It would also show you whether there were any LTZ badges affixed to the interior or exterior.

I'll add, finally, that the ONLY B platform cars I have ever seen with the LTZ badge affixed to the front fender (between the wheel and the door) was on the 1993 models. The 91 and 92 models didn't get the LTZ emblems, and I don't think there were interior emblems either.... at least from the 91 LTZ that I once rode in. My buddy & I were able to "tell" that it was a non-std Caprice by the stance of the car as we drove by the used car lot --- so we pulled in to investigate. The stance was taller because the copcar springs were used (another telltale I forgot to mention). We looked under the hood, in the trunk (instant SPID decode!) and drove the car. IIRC there were no LTZ emblems or badges.

The GM Bcar Parts & Illustration book(s) would also show what years had the LTZ badging if you could coax someone to look. HTH.

What year LTZ had the flat-style hood ornament?
7o7, does yours have the stand-up hood ornament, or flat-style?

Just curious, where did you find a list of descriptions for your RPO codes?

Good question -- I forgot that one. The flat hood ornament is the one listed in the SPID above as BA1 ORNAMENTATION, EXTR HOOD

That "flat" ornament was only used on the LTZ.

EDIT:

BA1 is the flat ornament, and I believe it was used on all 91-93 LTZs. The T52 is, I think the fender emblem I mentioned somewhere above that was only used on 93 LTZ.... IIRC. HTH.

There should be a LTZ nameplate on the dash to the right of the radio where the coin holder on a 9C1 would be.
