What handling differences would I experience if I switched from 9C1 to stock SS springs. From what I understand the 9C1 springs are not only taller but stiffer as well.

I also have HO front & rear bars and IAS shocks

Basically, the springs are the same rate (or pretty close) on both, just the 9C1 springs are taller. Thus the SS springs would be about the same "stiffness".

You'll get the benefits of having a lower center of gravity (about 1-1.5" lower, I believe) but that's about it.

If I bought SS springs and installed them, would I have to change anything else. Such as stock 9C1 wheels, shocks, anyting? Thanks! Also, does it help in racing?

Have to agree with Ed on the springs. Both my cars have the same ride quality except for the height of the 9c1 springs being 1 to 1.5 inches taller than my super sports. I can see the difference between my 95 9c1 and 95 Impala ss as they sit in the driveway side by side. John

RamAirImpala's second set of Impala SS sprigns is on its way to my house in exchange for some money, so when I get them, and put them in, I'll let you know if I notice any difference, but I don't think I will, I've driven many an SS and 9C1 and not noticed a difference in ride quality.

Would the switch in springs form a 9c1 to SS call for a front end alignment because of the change in ride height? I know that it is required with lowering springs, so I assume it would be needed if there is a 1-1.5 inch drop from 9c1's to SS's!!

Yes, any time you change ride height, you need to realign. At the very least, your toe-in and camber will change.

I plan on driving it for a week though before I get the alignment, otherwise the springs will settle after I get the allignment, and then I'll need to get another allignment. You can change the rear height anytime you want, its the front height that reuires an allignment, if we had IRS, independent rear suspension, then we'd need an allignment for a rear end ride height change too.
