I want my car to handle better than it does now. Im not looking for a crazy setup..just something so i can throw it through turns better and make it more fun to drive....and get rid of that damn body roll.

Ill be getting the stiff bilstien shocks soon. I was more wondering if i should just get better springs or a swaybar/rear control arm setup. I have a B4U package car so it has the "sport" springs in it. I just dont know if sway bars or springs would be more effective for me.

Thanks, Chris

Well I have/had the same car. I lowered mine first then went to sway bars. The lowering helped because of lowering the center of gravity of the car, but the real difference came with the bars. I went with HO bars front and rear, and this is a really nice set up. I love the car in corners now, it handles like it should have when i bought it. The most common bars is either the HO all around or the F-body bar in front with a HO/HA rear. Ho and HA is the same bar.

But, I hate that word, if you do sway bars, upgrade the rear lower control arms. The stiffer rear bar will tear through them. I went with Global West on a group purchase with a nice discount, but every after market one would work. I think the most common in BMR because of cost.

I'm with Troy on this one. I've got the F-bar/HO setup with Intrax lowering springs and stiff Bilsteins. You don't necessarily have to lower the car, but in my opinion, the stock springs actually RODE pretty good but didn't handle very well. I liked the firmness of them over bumps and railroad tracks but there was still some roll in the corners.

Oh yeah, i've also got BMR rear lowers. If you like the stock height or SS height, do a search for "springs" and you'll have all the info you could possibly want.

Sean

Oh yeah, Get it aligned right away if you end up getting springs. I JUST did this after a year of having the springs in (I know, I know). I used "The Specs" Man I couldn't believe the difference. I just got to really test it the other night...holy crap what a change, handled incredible.

Chris,
I have the HO bars all around with GW rear arms and GM front springs that are rated at 750#'s (similar to GW springs).

The front of the car does not dive or roll at all!. The road course at BIR (3.1 miles and very fast) was little tougher on the tires than last year when I was running stock gear. The car was much quicker in the turns this year! :D

If you ever see me around or make it to a MinneSSota ImpalaSS meeting, I will try and give you test ride. ;)

Thanks guys for the responses...i think im going to get the HO bars and rear arms...just have to work a little overtime to cover it

But also im going to rebuild the front end this winter so i might as well put some better springs in there and just do it all at that time.

Randy, if you could post some info on those GM springs and how to contact someone on those bars that would be awesome. Also you mentioned the MinneSSota meetings. I just checked the calendar and noticed the fall cruise to Ely is the first weekend in October. Theres a very good chance ill be up there grouse hunting that weekend
. So that would be just convienent as hell wouldnt it. Ill show up with my car covered in dirt and dressed in full camo.

Anyways thanks for the experiences again, Chris

Chris,
I sent you a private message about the springs. ;) You might want to look at the Bilstein shocks, too (the firm ones). They also made a big difference in the 'floaty' feeling of the car.
