From Don L.: I've taken the lead and and I'm running the Southern Super Heavy Shootout this year. You'll notice a few changes in the classes and there will be a few more T&T cars than in the past. The event website is up at sshs12.ecirs.org.

Big John there are some emails going around, we are trying to see if it will fly.

Basically GASSIT doesnt have the funds to lay out, and we need about $10K to do it right. Don did some math, you need about 6 sponsors at $500 each and then about 100 racers at $70 each. Or 70 racers at $100 each. Or 1 racer at $7,000.

Jason I won the Class A brackets borrowing Erik's TBSS back in 2010. I was running 14.75's or so. No worries about how fast or slow. Back in the day at SSHS there was a Ford Country Squire wagon that dominated running 18's!

Whether I can make it or not (kids both playing for the high school football team) I will 100% support this event as always.

And I didn't say it was wrong, it's just not what SSHS is about.

If you want it, go create a class and sponsor it and run with it and hopefully it will take off. Just to be clear this is a 3400+ lb class only for 4 doors and only for cars over a certain wheelbase, right?

Of course I would watch 'em run, who wouldn't, but that's another pretty finite and narrow category don't you think?
