Anybody? Is anybody worried about the steel gaskets brinelling the heads?
Steel head gasket question
So since I'm going through the motor I've got a question about head gaskets. I saw where Pat Gish made mention of modding a set of .015 Gen 1 SBC steel shim head gaskets for LT1 use. Can someone else tell me a little more? I know where the extra holes need to be, I've got a Greenlee hole punch set, a can of silver high solids spray paint and a tube of Great stuff, so what's to stop me? I just need to know if these are OK for my AL heads. If not, I'll just use the Victor Reinz 5898's. I was hoping to eek out all the compression I could out of this thing. TIA.
