Hey guys. Ive drivin my 95bbb around now for 3 months and im noticing more and more that my steering has alot of play in it.For example if im on the right side of the road i have to almost hold the wheel to the left because it wants to pull right.NOW HERES THE WEIRD PART,IF I MOVE TO THE LEFT LANE IT WANTS TO PULL TO THE LEFT!!!I have to hold the wheel to the right.Possibly the idler arm. IM thinking my tires are wearing a bit fast too.Any suggestions?

Yikes! That sounds fairly unsafe. I would get under there ASAP and check all the steering linkage and ball joints. Something has to be worn pretty bad.

Funny thing is I drove it back from jersey all the way home to southern missouri like that.I think i just got used to it.Its not like i have to hold the steering wheel or it will go off the road, but it seems to want to trail either way just a bit.Kinda sloppyish(if i may ).

Yeah, but the fact that it wants to pull to either side depending on what direction you last pointed the steering wheel kind of bothers me. It is still worth a look under there to see if anything is going on. I'd also check the rag joint in the steering column for slop and the steering box as well although I don't think those are what is causing it to pull.

Thanks for the info kevin.Im in denial that theres somthing wrong.Im goin to check before i drive it .What are the symptoms of an idler arm prob though? Everyone says to buy the "problem solver"

Looseness in the steering wheel, wandering, etc. If you can, get under the car while it is on the wheels and have someone move the steering wheel back and forth a bit. There should be no up/down movement in any of the idler arm joints. If there is then replace. I am the anal type though and just go hog wild and replace everything when I am under there for a job like that. I don't own a Caprice/Impala, but I have read the same thing on here about the Problem Solver idler arm. Seems to be the way to go. Make sure you get an alignment after you replace any front end parts.

I had the same exact problem, and after replacing EVERYTHING, I finally got to the steering box, and replacing that fixed my problem.
