Hey all,

Will stock 1996 catalytic converters directly swap into a 1994?

Both are LT1 cars.

Wondering if there’s a difference due to OBD2 and OBD1, or anything else that will cause trouble for me with CARB… Trying to pass Ca smog here.

Thanks!

You'd just have to plug the rear O2 hole. But being california, not sure if it be an issue for the visual portion...

Although the 96 was different in production, as soon as the 94-95 stock was depleted, the 96 was supplied as replacement.
As noted above , rear extra hole gets plugged.
I had cats ordered under warranty , by serial for my 95 OBD1 car.
The cats supplied are 1996 type so It would seem imposible that CARB could see issue as they are what GM currently list.
