2 10" has more cone area than 1 12" so there will be more output with 2 10". You will feel 2 10's more too. The 12 will drop a little lower. Both will have the same power handeling. I would do 2 10s for more bass.

Truthfully I would have to say that there is not enough info provided. What size box are you using, what type of music do you like, what kind of vehicle is it going in etc... This will make a difference. Personally if you got enough amp go with the W7. They are sick. Personally if you are crammed for space properly tune the 12 or not so much then tune the two tens. You can also get pre-fab JL boxes which are awesome too. I sold JL Audio for about 4 years and loved it.

All of this will be going in the trunk of my impala. Either way I go, I will have a custom box built to specs.

They will be in a sealed box, but I will still port a whole through my rear deck.

I'm sorry, I'm going to sound like a complete ******* here....

How is this even a decision?

I take "better bass" to mean better sounding (i.e. more accurate) bass.

2 10w3's or 1 12w6.....

Being that the w6's are hailed as one of the most accurate mainstream car audio subwoofers, I would lean toward that.

If the idea would be to have loud bass also then I would suggest a large, low tuned enclosure (read: [email protected])... which I would reccomend anyway as I personally love an ultra low end hump in my frequency response.

I personally do not like sealed and the idea of a single sealed 12 in B-body seems absolutely pointless to me.(here's that ******* part I was talking about). Sealed will extend lower (literally) but IMO lacks the authority down low (where it's thought to improve).

I would STRONGLY suggest the 12w6 ported in 2-2.5 cubes tuned to 28-30hz with 30-40 square inches of port area (slot port).

Granted I'm in LOVE with MASS quantities of output, but my goal has generally been to make it sound good at the same time (emphasis on transient response or "quick bass"). From my experience, a low tuned, large ported box with an adequate woofer will lend enough transient responsed and a proper frequecy response to please *almost* anyone. (*you can't please everyone, lol.)

I know I'm fairly new to the site, but please consider what I have to say, I've been doing audio (intensively) for a few years... all of that in a b-body sedan, I've only recently switched to a wagon.

I will also suggest you start budgeting to PROPERLY sound deaden your entire car. Also I would reccomend that instead of porting the rear deck you first try removing the 6X9's... forever, and beefing up your front stage.

I know I kind of went off on a bit of a tangent... but my girlfriend is watching Grey's Anatomy... and thusly have nothing better to do than type out a sizeable post on the internets...

Well I agree on the post above. The 12W6 will definately sound better than 2 10W3. The W3 are a lower quality than the W6's. Now if you were going to get the 10W6 or 10W7 than you would have a significant better bass output. Now if those are your only two options than go with the 12W6 and spend a little extra on the ported box or bandpass box buit to specs. JMO. I'm out.

Well I finally made up my mind. I'll be getting one 13w6 in a custom box ported through the rear deck. I'm dropping off my car tomorrow so I'll let you guys know how it turns out later on this week.

Any specs on the ported box design? A custom ported box can be a really good thing.... or a really bad thing... lol.
