Okay... so I had a pair of 6x9's in the rear deck of my Lesabre and they worked totally fine as long as I've had the car. But, they were some cheapo Wal-Mart speakers so I decided to swap them out for the Pioneer 6x9's I had sitting around. I swapped the speakers, and now one of the Pioneer speakers doesn't work at all... it's totally silent. Both speakers worked fine when I pulled them out of my old car. So... I'm very confused.

I had just been listening to the old speakers right before I pulled them out... put the new ones in (which worked when pulled) and I've only got 1/2 working. Any ideas?

Are you sure the speaker is still good? Try swapping them side to side and see if the same speaker or same side doesn't work.
That's what my buddy suggested also and I'm gonna try that today.

The Pioneer speakers came out of my Caprice, and I pulled them myself and they were working perfect when I pulled them.

Okay here's an interesting development...

I listen to my ipod almost 100% of the time in my car, very rarely listening to CDs or the radio. So, when I was first testing the speakers after installation, I was using my ipod, and this is when I noticed that one of the speakers wasn't working.

Well, I took the car over to a buddies house who is a certified audio installer. When I tried to show him the problem, I was playing a CD (not sure why, just happened to have a CD in right then) and both speakers worked perfectly. What the hell?

So, I plugged my ipod back in again and tried it that way. Once again, one of the rear speakers wasn't working. Then I tried the radio, and both speakers worked perfectly. So... my problem is that when I am playing my ipod, one of the 6x9's doesn't work... but it works fine when playing the radio or a CD. I never had this problem before... both 6x9's always worked with my ipod in the past (as recently as the same day I swapped the speakers).

My buddy has said it sounds like it's either a problem with the ipod, or a problem with my aux input on my head unit. That makes sense, but it seems like a big coincidence that this would happen at the exact moment I swapped the speakers.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Check these items first:
-Ipod... hook up headphones and see if sound comes out of both sides.
-Try hooking up Ipod to another stereo and see if same thing happens. If so, check the adapter wire. There are some "mono" wires/connectors and some "stereo" wires/connectors or the plugs could be bad which is typical when the wires wear out and break inside the rubber.
-If Ipod works fine with headphones, and in another car with the same adapter wires, try a different pod or MP3 player in your car. If you have only mono sound again (one side), your input on the radio is likely the culprit.
