my tailgate only folds down , i noticed that it also can be swinged out to the left i tried to do so put it seems to be jammed. i folded the tailgate down and i checked the latch mechanism for the door to swing out. when i looked at the mechanism i can already tell they never EVER open the door that way . it wasn't rusty but corrosion on it i lubed the hell out of it and it still doesnt open ,.. is there some kind of lock somewhere , hope its just that easy also the door lock knob on the top of the door seems to be stuck also. help!!

The tailgate is designed to only open one way at a time. Either down or to the left. Once you have got it in one position (say DOWN) the ability for the right hand hinge to release so it can open LEFT is disabled, and vice-versa. The reason the suggestion to SLAM the gate shut is that maybe it will finally realize that it is SHUT and it will open the other way. If slamming doesn't help, try taking the plastic panel off the gate and looking for something thats out of place, broken or not adjusted right. Beyond that you will need the factory service manual as it has step by step proceedures for repair and adjusting. Be sure and use the one for your year as I'm not sure if there were any changes over the years.

I agree with the others... I have had a couple like this in the past, shut it firmly and then it should kick out to the side, sounds like it needs just a tweaking of alingment to make it work smoothly. Let us know what happens.

wow , just a slam will do it huh! allthough I hate to slam a door but I will try it , and if it doesnt work i'll take the damn thing apart to the shell to get it working , and as for the right specs for the door , I have the right manual for the car , the car even came with a cassete tape manual!! thanks guys . I 'll let u know what s going on...

ok guys i fixed the problem , but slamming the door didn't work , ofcoarse i had to take the whole door apart and found the on of the rods were disconnected on the mechanism (don't ask me how) but everything is fine now . thanks again for your quick replies.

I had to fix that same exact problem this weekend.

He Stunner Bigcahunna said you need some mirrors. If so i have a set of 94s that are white and i also have a set gold 94s you can have for a very good price of 30.00 and that includes shipping. If thats good for you please call me at home 610.760.1782 and i will save them. COOL.
