Mr. Forman did a great job of telling us about the differences between the 91-96 Caprice Classics, but he failed to mention on thing: The easiest way to tell a 91 and 92 apart is by looking at the grille. On the 91's the grille is plain, while on the '92-'96's it reads 'Chevrolet'. Just thought I'd share that.

You must be a lot younger than I. At my age, if I wait until a '91-'92 gets close enough to see if the grill has Chevrolet on it, I find it a challenge to jump out of the way before I get run over.

Seriously, does this mean that I can buy a '91 replacement grill that will bolt onto my '95 that doesn't have the raised "CHEVROLET" on it? My '95 grill is getting pretty dull and that would look both fresher and cleaner.

I looked at two '91 Caprices in the neighborhood this morning. No "CHEVROLET" on the grill. I am going to get a new one if Dal says it fits.

Thanks for the info, El_Dude_2k.

Well if the SS grilles will bolt up to the '91 hoods, then I'd think it's safe to say that the '91 grilles would work on the other years.

Another easy way to tell a '91 from a '92 is to look at the window pillars. The '91s have flat black b and c pillars. The '92s have body color pillars. This works great so long as the car is NOT black it self.
The '91-'96 grills should interchange no problem. The addition of the CHEVROLET lettering only affected the cosmetics of the exterior top portion. So the installation of a smooth grill, or a CHEVROLET lettered grill is up to personal taste.

Well, I happen to own a 91 Caprice and I can confirm everything here.

Originally it had the chrome grille with no "CHEVROLET" on it.

Then I hit a deer one night and had to get a new grille.

I opted for an Impala grille shell with a billet insert. It fit prefectly.

And it also has the taped on flat black B and C pillars.

Rowland- No problem, that's what the forum's here for!

Brick-yes that is true, but I was just pointing out a little factoid that Mr. Forman forogot to mention. He mentioned the thing about the b- and c-pillars, but not the grille.

I love the look of the plain grille on my 91, but after what I plan to do to the 94, I think that the raised lettering on the grilled might make it look cooler.
