So there I was thinking that all I had to do to get cruise control back into my car was add the module and cable back, so I did that, but I could not figure out how the cable attaches.

Upon googling a picture, I realized that I do not believe that I have an oem throttle body, maybe. How can you identify them?

Also, because I am missing the bracket that the cruise control cable attaches to, could I just source the bracket by itself and weld it to the current throttle?

(The pic with only one cable attached is mine, and the other is from google)

did your car originally have CC?

I assume several B body models did not come with CC, IIRC it was standard on SS model.

Maybe your TB was removed and replaced with a non CC version for a LT1

Cars that did come with CC have the turn signal lever with the CC function

Yep, has the CC stalk, the holes in the fender and the plug for the module. I figure it'd be simple enough to just get a stock TB and put that in, but I'm worried that if a previous owner put in a larger than stock TB they might have tuned the PCM for that, correct?

aftermarket TB's come in 52, 54 and 58mm. If yours is stock, its 48mm

Also aftermarket TB's typically have a logo of whoever made it (Holly, ASM, BBK) cast on them or on the top plate of TB

Awesome, thank you for the info! I'll take the intake assembly off next chance I get and measure the flapper.

Your heads look aluminum, wonder if that is an F or Y body throttle body . No perf difference , just different.
I had also wondered if they were aluminum, but a magnet stuck to them so I'm pretty sure they're iron

This was the photo I was looking at.

In that photo the B body specific PCV hardline also appears not to be there.
Huh.. I'm definitely going to have to get the info from the previous owner about the guy who owned it before him to figure out all the mods he did. I am sure it is a real SS, but there have been a few weird modifications for sure.
I appreciate your knowledge for sure though, thanks!

So I redid the magnet test and I think you're right about the heads being aluminum because the magnet did not stick, except when directly above a bolt that is close to the surface.

And I did a rough measurement of the TB from the mouth with the intake removed and I think it was closest to 48mm, so I guess it is the stock size, but not from the ss?

Guess the question is,
Do you have the means to
  • Change the lever
  • Graft part of a lever
or are you going to
- Need a complete TB
I'm going back to the states in a few weeks, maybe I can find myself a complete TB. I've had some issues with the throttle position sensor in the past where it would cause the trans to not want to shift unless it was at WOT.

Update:
Went back to the states on leave but none of the local junkyards had any stuff for a chevy b body car, so I found a similar looking bracket on a chevy truck and cut the bracket off (pick n pull wants $65 for throttle bodies which is way too much in my opinion) and then I took that bracket, shaved down the keyhole (it was oriented 90° off) and then welded it to my throttle body. I will reinstall it tonight and should be able to test it within a few days. Considering this is my first time MIG welding in like 7yrs I thought I did alright!
