Ok, I'm sure it was in here before the giant data loss but......

My trunk will not latch closed. If you slam it 150 times, you might be lucky enough to get it to latch. Even that's iffy. I've actually beaten the trunk lid so badly trying to get it shut that now it's got enough dents that I think it should be replaced. Or maybe it's time for a langness spoiler. Who knows.

Anyhow - are there any common reasons why this is? Or common parts to fail here? The latch itself will not actually click shut even if I push it "closed" with the lid up. Like I said, it IS possible if you stand there for 20 minutes that eventually one time it will click in properly.....

I'm sure this must be a really common thing, anyone got any suggestions? Or just take it off and get a whole new latch?

Just wondering, do you use the key to open the trunk, or the remote? I had a similar issue with my 95. Key to open never a problem, dash button then it wouldn't want to relatch to close it unless I tried a few dozen times. Could be a similar issue with yours. Try removing the remote release temporarily and see if the latch works properly.

Check the loop thing that the latch hooks to also. I was having a problem with mine and it turns out that the plate it is attached to was coming off. There was a crack in the metal just above the filler neck and one whole side of the plate that attached to became disconnected and the trunk wouldn't latch.

Oh when it got slammed shut one to many times previous it moved the latch assembly slighty, if it isn't want Mighty suggested above, loosen the two 10MM bolts that hold the latch to the lid and move it down a 1/16 of an inch.
