Just a heads up for those attending the Tulsa ISSCA Nationals and the Friday evening drag racing at Tulsa Int'l Raceway....
We share the track with about 100 test-n-tune local cars. Bummer yes, but something like this is very workable.

The event staff is working their buns off, (for nothing but to serve the rest of us), in making this thing work as good as can be. I've talked to the track owner and he's given me a feeling that our 100 to 200 ISSCA cars will manage fine with the 100 locals.

I think GRAIL is doing an EXCELLENT job with this.

Note that Friday night racing will be somewhat "less hot". Not cool but less hot.
The TULSA NATS staff and I are working on pre-planning the drag racing day so that the track knows what we expect and so that you the participant knows what to expect.

Soon, after more brainstorming and fine tuning, you'll see that actual schedule of events. For example, gate opens at 5pm, tech from 5pm to 6pm. 1st qualifying session at 6pm, etc. etc.

So, it's true, the rumor that the track is not rented for our sole use. Apparently the owner just would not bargin. I don't blame him because many track operators have firm policy as to when a club can and cannot rent a track. My local track will not rent the track to anyone at all on a Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.
Even with having to share the track, I think we'll certainly get all of our elimination runs, (Bracket with buy-back and 2 classes of Heads Up). Umpteen and unlimited open timed runs are what gets the ax.

Lastly, please enjoy the drag night and have fun and tell the staff you appreciate what they do. Putting on a national event is something I would not want to do.

A Thank you goes out to all the un-named people who have put on and are putting on these national events.

Hey guys, (that means guys and gals where I grew up in Michigan).

Some answers to Some questions:

1. Gasoline at the track: Yes, Sunoco 110 leaded. They will have 1 55gal drum of Sunoco 100 unleaded for us though. (edited).

2. Glue: Yes. The track will get glue. We'll try to compel the staff to keep the track in good shape as much as possible.

3. Lanes: 5 lanes for staging and arranging cars around mid track, that merge into 2 lanes....all to ourselves. Test n Tune cars will be on the same side of the track but in their own 6 lanes. (edited)

4. How late: No cerfew. We will be able to race even past midnight if needed. But: The track staff is confident that we will be done by 11:30pm. (edited)

I'm bringing my own 10 gallons of Sunoco 110 unleaded, (from MIR).
As Sparty alluded to, you'll have to be first in line if you want some of that 55 gallon drum.
Not too many go for the stuff though, (so that's why it's only 1 drum).
