Has anyone put the tweeters of a component set in the spot just below the switch pod on the door? You can see on the back of the door panel when it is apart the cutout in the sound insulation. I would think that it might be slightly more evident sonically than in the door on the adapter cutout. I am of course, not taking into effect the fact that the distance is slightly shorter, ala Steve Cornell.
I would do this in a heart beat to my 9C1, but I am doing it to my Impala, staring at it with a drill in my hand. These door panels are hard to find! Well, anyone? Pictures?

Thanks in advance.

 I hope you haven't cut it yet...
I put my tweeters on the plastic trim inside of the rearview mirrors. Sound great, impressed the sound guys at I2K2, and I saved the door panel. :D
Sorry, no pics. But if really need one I can get one for ya.

I wound up putting then in the doors ala 'Hack's template. I did this on my 9c1 also, and the sound was acceptable. On the mirror huh? On the back of the mirror and bouncing of the windshield?

I got some trim pieces off a RM wagon that had tweeters where the ashtrays are in the back doors and in similar positions in the front doors. The Buick trim pieces are too big for Chevy use, but the speakers are still game. Maybe I'll hook them up to the Bose amp I got (for free) out of a junkyard.
