I've looked at the Global West website, but their link to dealer/distributors does not seem to be working, and there is no pricing for the Impala LCAs on their website.

Who sells their stuff at competitive prices? I've tried the usual suspects' websites (No Limits, Clear Image, Thunder Racing) with no success. I found plenty of vendors for the BMR and Hotchkis stuff, but not for Global West.

Does anybody have a recommended seller for GW LCAs?

Also I just noticed their Impala Section has an interesting new perspective on upper rear control arms! I had found some of this out myself (i.e. Poly ain't the best for upper arms), but suprised to see the part about their findings on upper arms with dual rod ends.

From Ed's link on the GW website.

First if you try and use solid type polyurethane or Del-a-lum bushings on both ends of the control arm a bind condition will occur. One end of the control arm must be able to pivot.
At this point there are no upper rear control arms that we have seen on the market capable of maintaining full suspension movement
without going into bind at one point or another.
WOW! I had no idea it was that bad.

Could this be one reason we see so many aftermarket LCAs breaking?

Now this is the key, since the lower control arms are placed at opposing angles (not as sever as the uppers) and by placing the Del-a-lum bushings on the rear end side with the bearing of the frame side, lateral movement of the rear end is now controlled by the lower control arms.
Are the lower mounts capable of handling the lateral loads, long-term?

What is new on there? To me the page you are referring to hasn't changed any since I have been around since a year ago. What is the dual rod ends you're speaking of? :confused:

LeadSslead, Tom Frederico should be able to hook you up as well. I got mine from him.

I just read the Global West write-up on the ImpalaSS and they recommend keeping the stock upper control arms with rubber bushings. They might still be working on an UCA design though. I plan to center the rear wheels in wheelwells inspite of the performance drawbacks. I do want to install what might be the best parts for my Caprice & driving style, heres the plan so far, comments & answers solicited:

REAR: [*--Parts I have in box]

1)*--BMR ext/adj UCA set [need info/part# for fwd/frame side rubber bushing that will fit into this BMR arm, anyone know?]
2) Global West LCA set [special order 3/4" extended]
3) Hotchkis sway bar set
4) ImpalaSS or Hotchkis lowering springs [?]
5)*-- Dynotech 3/4" extended MMC driveshaft

Front:

1) [*--Will Cut my 9C1 springs] or Hotchkis or Global West springs [anyone know if GW springs lower the car?]
2) Global West Del-Alum bushings 8 each

Tires/wheels:

Need info to find reasonably priced fordged wheels 18" x 9" front & 18" x 12" rear. I am aware of but have not contacted the expensive/multi-piece wheel makers: Fikse, HRE, Speedline, etc... Maybe too expensive!!! A one piece wheel is fine but where are they, who makes them in this size?

I spoke with Doug at Global West 2 weeks ago when I ordered my lowers. They definitly have uppers in the works and the prototypes are currently undergoing destructive testing. Doug said that the uppers whould be on the market sometime next year.

Yes, you can order direct from GW.

I'd like to suggest something else however, especially ISSCA members. Among the long-time advertisers in Impala SScene magazine, Year One has been the largest supporter for several years--they have been on the back cover since they came aboard. They sell Global West, and have an online catalog for the late B-body.

Here's what I found:

I have not checked with GW on their current pricing, and while I realize most everyone will do whatever it takes to save a nickel, I'd just ask you to think about supporting the ISSCA magazine advertisers--they've invested alot in the relationship, and deserve a chance to respond to some of your needs. This is true for all of the magazine advertisers...

I hear you and I agree we should support vendors like Year One whenever they are close to being competitive. But, GW is or was having a sale and the price from GW was $292.50. A 15% premium is just too much, even if Year One is a supporter of ISSCA. If the GW regular price of $325 was in force, I would agree with you. Anyway, it is a done deal now; parts are in hand. Nobody mentioned Year One when I posted this question a month ago.
